Im praying that the free game is to get the mk8 adoption rate really high because they plan to release DLC to extend the life of the game. ( And enhance battle mode)

Sony as a WHOLE is losing money ... but the game division has been exponentially increasing. Dropping the price isnt a bad thing because more systems out there means more PSN+ subscriptions and more games being attached to it.
Sony is not selling the system at a loss this time around (google it). Working with AMD and going with the less custom architecture has made it a lot easier to make.

They missed the Kinectless price point IMO ... It should have been priced at 349.99 without Kinect.. People will knock on this sku as still being less powerful than ps4 since it has no advantages anymore. They would have been better off eating the loss and including the Kinect IMO.. The only thing that makes them different now is the specs and MSFT exclusives... What happens when Sony shows up at E3 and says 349.99? I dont think im going out on a limb here by saying the game will be like all Nintendo published exclusives and it will render at 720p and run at a liquid smooth locked 60 fps upscaled to 1080.
Within the manual people located an added feature for battle mode only that essentially lets you turn the the kart around sharply when drifting.. From the videos I have seen you need to regain your speed again as it slows you down to a crawl.

This leads me further to believe that Nintendo will not have DLC for more cups / maps (even if they do they will be very stubborn in adding arenas)... ... I think maybe they will add characters but not tracks.

The way I think of it is that it took the PS3 its entire generation to release a game like Beyond and or The Last of US.. It had uncharted and God of war .. But it took some time to get amazing looking games with limited specs. I see no reason why Nintendo cant do the same with the limited specs of the Wii U. Right now the games look great which is attributed mostly to Nintendo Developers and art style...

It sold 2 million copies according to the latest investor report on an install base that is reported at 6 million. At the time of release it had an install based of 3-4 million... The only issue with your statement is that the Wii U install base according to the latest number at most is 6 million. Mario Kart and Smash have really good attach rates but won't sell in the 10 to 30 million range they did in the previous generation.

I still like having the option to have a Halo 3, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart party when I want.... Me and my friends who are 30ish still get together once or twice a month to game it up... Also me and my wife still play split screen coop in any game that we can...
It sux that Nintendo is the only company that cares about that experience .. but I guess time moves on.
