Coming from a non sony / msft fanboy (PC / Wii U right now). I can tell you without a doubt MSFT is falling behind. Sony is claiming 7 million sold to consumers while MSFT stated they sold 5 Million to retail .. How many stores have you walked into and seen Xbox Ones on the shelf? How many have you seen with Ps4s on the shelf? When I shop at Target or Walmart I always stop by the electronics section to take a look and I can tell you without exaggeration that every store ive been to has at le...
"But you could also argue Microsoft selling 5 million Xbox One units at that higher price point is as much an achievement as Sony selling 7 million PS4 units at its lower one."
It is only an achievement if the margin is more on that higher price point... The margin could be the exact same on both devices or there could be slight loss attached to it. This gen most the money will be made from PSN + and Live.. Even if MSFT convinced people to pay more Sony is still in...
Whether the numbers are good or not... We still getting some of the best looking games they have ever made. People are so up inarms about performance... E3 is coming and chances are we getting some good games ... I'm having fun so that is all that matters.
Price drives anything... Nintendo could make the value proposition so good it will drive people to buy it. It is a huge long shot if the system ever truly sells but with their heavy hitters and a hefty price drop the might be able to put up decent numbers.
179.99 or 199.99 for a bundle?
There is no doubt that the console is selling poorly.. but you have to take into consideration that every first party game Nintendo has sold is a million seller.. Look at the Wii U titles released by Nintendo (NSMBU, PIKMIN, SM3DW, NINTENDOLAND, and so on) .. The estimates are saying the Wii U is anywhere between 5 - 6 million in sales .. That means about 10% of the base is buying their published games. The Dreamcast never had that kind of success for any title or titles.. They had a bunch of...
Gamecube still made money for Nintendo... People always say sales were poor but no one ever mentions they didn't sell for a loss and the console actually made them money.
One thing I dont think people are taking into consideration is that they have not covered at all what the 3DS and Wii U will do in tandem. AT E3 I fully believe that they will announce some type of feature (not cross play) that will make them both some type of must buy (lets hope).
Also the 3ds has an exclusive item gathering mode before battle that wont be on the Wii U. How do we know there isnt some must have mode that will be included on the Wii U version?
I was just wondering if they would nerf it once you got online with 2 player split screen.
What I really want to know is if 2 player split screen online is 60 fps AND if they will have DLC in any way shape or form.
It would be a HUGE misstep to not include DLC. They would make so much money on additional characters and tracks. I dont see how they could include it in Pikmin and Mario Bro U and not include the ability to add content to Mk8
Videos are all in 720p? Would be crazy if this was the Wii U version.
The lan adapter is 10 to 15 bux on amazon and you can still find them at gamestop for 12.99 used. Also if you were hardcore Brawl you can use your previously purchased adapter which is 0 cost to you....It isnt really a big deal because it isnt required... If you are a casual player you will be fine playing it over wireless because the Wii U is Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n.. If you have an N router it will be more than enough to keep a consistent fast connection (100mbts + connectivity).. If you ar...
Nintendo is almost certainly trying to spread out its heavy hitters through 2014 so they dont canalize each other. Mario Kart is coming out May 30th which is practically June.. If Smash was released in June or July it would have people deciding between which game to buy ... It is better to move Smash to the Winter which could be August - January window... But Nintendo cant push it too far .. I am assuming it will be Sept - Nov window most likely.
Nintendo wont make the mistak...
PS4 is technically superior hardware and it is much cheaper than the X1.. Also you dont need to get thru a paywall to use netflix and other services. Titanfall is doing a good job at helping the x1 sustain but in the long run it wont help boost it enough to over take Sony
Second Son is a great example of a good Sony exclusive with name recognition.. It has already sold 1 million copies meaning 1 in 6 to 7 people who own as ps4 have bought it within 9 days of its release ... I...
Brawl and Mario Kart had the luxury of a larger console base over their life of sales (100 million Wiis out there). So it would be foolish to think that either game would sell as well as they did on the Wii.
Nintendo can make the Wii U a break even proposition and be successful this gen as long as their handheld business continues to be successful. Wii U needs to be a minus whale buy come winter 2k14 and beyond .. The system needs to be so affordable that it serves as a compl...
Lets be honest here.. Was Nintendo going to move away from the architecture they have been using since practically the Gamecube era? From the looks of what they are doing with the Wii U being so low power ( 35 watts) they may be positioning themselves to use the Wii U architecture in their next handheld and have backwards compatibility (Down the road once they can shrink the technology down).
On the other hand if they had built a power house they would have been doing exactly...
There is literally no discernible difference between 720 and 792 .. Just seems like wasted production time on something so trivial .. especially considering they have no problem setting most all their other games at 720 outputting to 1080.
NO idea why they went with 792p rather than setting it at 720p to help maintain the 60 fps threshold.
Do people get sick of playing or watching basketball or football? Some activities are just so consistent and polished that you don't need to change anything.
Competitiveness drives these activities.
It is playing games at 720 outputting at 1080 which is about on par with the x1...
People always forget that the majority of games outside of a handful of first party titles on the x360 and ps3 ran at 540 and or 640... Not even 720.. And even then not many ran at 60fps...
The Wii u at launch ran dirty ports that took its last gen counterparts years to accomplish out the gate on par or better. The games that Devs put time into like rayman and need for speed u ...
You do realize that the X1 reported 5 million sold to retailers? With the fact that there are so many available at retailers would make it safe to assume roughly 3.5 to 4 million sold to people ... That doesnt put it too far from where the Wii U is at now which is estimated to be around 5 million... Im not saying the Wii U is going to pass it or start selling like crazy or beat it long term.. But lets not say both the X1 is selling like hotcakes and flying off the shelves because it is not.. ...
