Right on man, but that doesn't sound appealing to me.

Well, I just sold mine a few weeks ago. Can't say I'm missing it, so I guess it's dead to me.

Hopefully they're devoting as much time to developing interesting gameplay mechanics as they are to the game's sense of fashion.

Only one game I'm looking forward to in March, but that game is Bloodborne. Anything from Miyazaki-san is worth dozens--no, hundreds!--of other games.

I didn't skip them, but the fact that playing at night is barely required is just one part of why the game wasn't scary. The stealth element didn't feel much different than any other game that has stealth sections.

People make all kinds of mistake, but professionals don't make those kinds of mistakes.

Dying Light was pretty fun, but shouldn't zombie games be scary? Call me crazy but I never felt scared, or even felt much tension at all, while playing the game.

The plot synopsis for The Order sounds good, and the premise might make for a decent film. But the actual telling of the story the way it happened (or didn't happen) in the game would never have been replicated in a film--at least not one that would seen release in a theater. Again, they didn't even bother resolving anything in the plot and they utterly ignored the few interesting elements that were there in the first place. A good story is meant to be resolved, not just leave a dozen...

I think what's more telling about the game is the majority of professional reviews who cite the poor game design, lack of actual gameplay, brevity and dearth of replayabilty, and the plot that doesn't even bother to tie up any loose ends as the rationale for the game's mediocre scores. It's just not a very good game. The bottom line is that a lot of people on N4G had fun playing a mediocre game, which is why every post that accurately points out The Order's flaws gets a to...

As an owner of a PS4, I get a little concerned when games like this and Quantic Dream's games sell well because it makes me wonder if Sony will even make gameplay a priority in all of their games moving forward. To make matters worse, the storytelling in these supposedly story-driven and "cinematic" games wouldn't even fly in a low-budget B-movie.

That said, isn't it a little too early to call The Order a sales success? I'm sure the pre-order number...

I had to chuckle at "lion head". Is there even a barrier of entry to becoming a gaming "journalist" these days?

That's funny. If a site wants attention, they give out a score that is vastly different from the norm. In this case, any site that actually gives The Order a GOOD score has got to be suspect. I think we'll see the opposite when Bloodborne comes out next month. I imagine it will get great reviews, but we'll see a handful of low scores looking for hits.

Agreed. The Order is not a good game. I'm not surprised that some sites give a good game a bad review--as the outlier, they are likely going to get some extra hits. But you're not the outlier when you give The Order a bad/mediocre review. Regarding the scores, the critics provided more than enough rationale for why the game has a 6.5 average.

You can do whatever you want, but keep in mind that I don't like strategy games but you won't see me bashing them. Anyway, it isn't that I just don't like The Order--it's that I genuinely think it is a bad game from nearly every objective perspective and to me it's a type of game that will drag down the industry if it becomes the norm. You could use it in a classroom setting as an example of poor storytelling techniques and lazy game design, but it's getting a pass...

There are certain high profile games (and The Order is one of them) that I genuinely feel are a big step backwards for gaming, and those are the games that I tend to be the most outspoken about on these types of forums. As a "gamer", I feel like The Order is the opposite of a true gamer's game, which is to say it doesn't appeal to any of the things that I love about my favorite hobby. I hate seeing big budgets go to game's that make actual gameplay take a backseat to pro...

I wish people would stop pretending like The Order's length was the main reason for the low scores. For sure it is a short game with very little replayability, but the game had plenty of other issues which were commonly criticized across all of the low scores. It's the apologists who keep clinging to the length as the main criticism of the game, which simply isn't true. It's the bland game design and poorly told story that were the biggest gripes.

Yeah, the Gamespot review nailed it.

The Order got the reviews it deserved, and we can only hope that will also be the case for Bloodborne.

4094d ago 2 agree10 disagreeView comment

Yeah, the level of denial is off the charts. I've had people private messaging me in a desperate attempt to convince me that the story and gameplay in The Order were incredible. But the game was truly average, and doesn't even seem like it was developed with gamers in mind.

On the other hand, Bloodborne appears to be a true gamer's game, by all accounts. I'm expecting a positive response from critics and players alike, with the exception of people who want the...
