Keep your expectations low, my friends.
This is what takes the fun out of gaming.
Baseball and cricket are two of the easiest sports to compare.
I don't expect everyone to like it the best, but there's really no arguing that it doesn't have the most depth in terms of being a pure role-playing game. No other Bethesda-published RPG gives you as many options, choices, and survival challenges as New Vegas does.
I'm guessing they left out New Vegas because everyone already knows it's the best RPG Bethesda has ever released. Truly, when it comes to pure role-playing, nothing comes close to New Vegas.
Same here, which was why the title made me laugh. The Wii U was the single most disappointing console I've ever owned.
The reviews can't take away the fun you had, but the fun you had doesn't change the fact that it is a poorly developed game in nearly every way that matters to most people who care about gaming.
Nice straw man.
This, and real sales. Last week's Donkey Kong sale was a perfect example of everything I hate about the e-shop. DKCR3D had less than a 1/3 reduction, and to even qualify for the sale price you had to buy another game. Hate that crap.
Their digital storefront could definitely use some work, and their weekly sales/promotions are by far the worst in the industry. Hopefully the recent shake up with Club Nintendo is signaling a change in strategy.
Seems unlikely, but if this game sells well I hope we will see a real DQ title on a console--either a spiritual successor to DQVIII, or even a remaster of that game. Still my favorite JRPG of all time, and they just don't make them like that anymore.
I think a score of 4-6 is perfectly fair for any videogame where the gameplay feels like an afterthought and the story doesn't even try to have a conclusion, and that pretty much describes The Order. It's all flash and zero substance, and even though the game works, the way the actual game is designed could be used in a class to teach how NOT to design your game and how NOT to tell a story.
I haven't read a single bad review of The Order that didn't do a good...
Agreed. Bloodborne looks to represent everything that I love about gaming, whereas The Order represents everything that I hate about gaming, particularly shallow, all-style/no-substance AAA game development.
Why? Based on the lack of content, the incomplete story, and the lazy game design and level design, any critic who values gameplay over production values can absolutely justify this kind of score for The Order. The only thing the game has going for it is the utterly superficial elements. That's cool if that's what matters to you, but I'm glad that most critics are judging this game based on what matters most--gameplay and design.
Do not talk to me about that which I pretend does not exist.
Absolutely love these screenshots, especially since I'm avoiding gameplay videos at all cost. But these shots really ignite your imagination. Can't wait to play it.
Damn it, I saw the words "Dragon Quest" and "8" in the same headline and nearly crapped myself. DQVIII is the one game that absolutely needs to be re-released/re-meastered/re-wh atevered on consoles.
Yes, that's my opinion (I assure you there was no need to point that out). But it is an opinion that is ostensibly shared by thousands of gamers and the majority of critics. I hope that knowledge doesn't keep you up at night. Sheesh!
My PSN is TotallyBreakfast if you want to check my trophy list. For the record, I love my PS4. But that doesn't mean I blindly love all of the mediocre 1st party software Sony has released this gen.
Also, why do people like you take my comments so personally? It's weird. And what's even weirder is that some of you actually look through my posting history (if you're curious: 1) I started coming here because Joystiq closed down, and 2) I've been vocal about ...
Really looking forward to playing the train section again. That was one of the best sections of any RE game. Unfortunately, the game feels a bit tedious and formulaic once you're off the train, but it's a fun ride while it lasts.
