You'd have to be a pretty major loser yourself to not be able to accept that Nintendo lost this E3. And they lost in the truest sense of the word, in that they have lost support of both third parties and fans alike, and ostensibly their own connection to reality.
They used to churn out 5-6 games a year that appealed to me, and now that number is down to 0-1 games per year. So no, I don't think I should keep my "faith" in Nintendo.
Open overworld with dungeons would be great. In a lot of ways From Soft has been making the 3D Zelda games I've always wanted ever since they began Souls, and this would pretty much be the ultimate action-adventure RPG if they had a dynamic, living-breathing world combined with their meticulously designed dungeons.
If they're moving from Namco I wonder if this means they want to self-publish or if there will be a scramble for other publishers to snatch it up. I'm sure MS and Sony would be ****ing their pants to try and make this an exclusive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm really enjoying The Witcher 3, but the combat is the only thing holding it back from being one of my all-time favorites. If From Software could somehow make a game with the scale of The Witcher 3, the level design of Souls (I'm assuming there will be "dungeons" throughout the world), and the fast combat of Bloodborne, it would be perfection.
I think MS had the best conference, but Sony's was pretty good too. Sony definitely played on sentimentality, but when it comes down to games I want to play in 2015 and 2016, I thought MS's conference had the most substance.
I enjoyed it for no other reason that it justified my choice to sell my Wii U and pick up a 3DS instead.
Jet Force Gemini could be incredible with dual analog support. The awful N64 controller really held that game back. Otherwise it would have a lot more recognition for being so ahead of its time.
Excuse the hyperbole, but this could change everything. In ten years we might see E3 turn into an event that is solely used for announcing and promoting kickstarters. I didn't like seeing this at E3 at all.
The thought of David Cage writing the final entry in the Shenmue series makes me shudder.
Why do you think his games would be perfect for VR? I don't see that being the case at all.
Speaking for myself, all MS needs to do to win E3 (and the rest of this gen) is sit back while Sony devotes all their resources to VR. I have no problem with VR if you can still play the game on a TV without losing any quality, but if that's not the case and Sony goes all-in on Morpheus, then Sony's lost me as a customer.
I think there's a big difference between someone who likes playing videogames and someone who actually self-identifies as a "gamer". And honestly, speaking as someone who has been playing games for 30 years and still plays around 20 hours per week, even I dislike most people I meet who self-identify as such. So yeah, there's not much to fix. I think the view that most people have of "gamers" is pretty accurate.
A MGS game with good controls? It truly is the end of an era.
Maybe one of these days Bioware will make an actual open-world RPG with the same type of living, breathing world we see from other devs like Bethesda and CDPR. Not sure why this guy is even chiming in.
Yeah, Eneloop batteries are awesome. Not having the option to use my own rechargeables on the DS4 is BS. Their charge lasts twice as long as a DS4 charge, and it's way more convenient to swap in a new pair as opposed to waiting hours to recharge the controller.
Pretty mind-boggling that it's still a surprise to see digital prices lower that retail. But if you've waited this long, no real reason not to wait for an even better sale on physical.
Nintendo has been the least traditional option ever since they made the switch to motion controls and the Gamepad.
They should just go back to doing ports or working on established franchises. They showed that they don't know how to build a game from scratch, and I can't imagine that they're next game will be any better. When the basic game design and storytelling is as bad as it is in The Order, that's not something you can easily fix.
Every time I watch footage from this game it practically lulls me to sleep. Perfect for nap time.
