Gaming since I could hold an Atari 2600 joystick, still gaming in my late 30's, always say I will be gaming until the day I die. If the whole industry turned towards a gaas model, that will be the day I stop gaming.
These prediction articles are a complete waste of time.
To be fair to DICE the game does actually look good. Unfortunately they have to do whatever EA tells them.
It's only temporary, don't buy!!
Unbelievable!! I thought they were finally going to give the gamers what they wanted!! When I first saw the headline I thought YES!! I'm going straight down to GameStop in the morning!! I knew it had to be too good to be true.
@jinger: If EA literally just announced they were actually going to do that and did overhaul the progression and unlocks to something more realistic, removed loot boxes and dropped the f2p/pay to win model completely, I'd be going straight down to GameStop in the morning to buy. This was one of my most anticipated games this year, but I won't touch it with a barge pole unless EA do something drastic.
At least it seems they're paying attention to what's going on.
There is something they can do. Drop the loot boxes altogether and overhaul the progression system. And they're certainly not "depending" on mt's to fund the game. EA have enough money as it is and Star Wars is one of the biggest money making franchises of all time. There's absolutely no reason to have these mt's in the game other than corporate greed. Without any of this nonsense the game would have sold enough to fund it and still line their pockets.
Exactly, it couldn't be more obvious. With everything that's happened in the last week, no other game has received as much fan feedback in the history gaming. Millions of gamers have made it pretty clear how they can repair that bridge.
Same as. Huge Star Wars fan here too but I'm not supporting this greed. And you also forgot to mention these "reviewers" that probably got real life loot crates stuffed with hundreds of € worth of goodies from EA with their review copies to influence their score. It's nice to see there are some reviewers giving considerable mark downs for the whole loot crate mess. Even if the core game deserves a 9, the shit they're trying to pull with the mt's is more than deservin...
Amazing!! Well, you have to hand it to EA. They really did an incredible job of covering their ass in every single aspect of the game to try and squeeze as much greed into it as they could. Hats off!! As more and more info like this is discovered EA are going to have to do something extraordinary to save this game. I know it will still sell, but NOWHERE near as much as it should have now.
To be fair, it's not as bad as some of those other lunatics, like the idiot who said his brother was missing after the Vegas shooting and then asked everyone to follow his Instagram. Having said that, he's still an idiot. As for the journalists, I think even the overly blatant Twitter account name should have been a give away. "Game Dev @ EA." How original.
@Kribwalker & Septic: For two guys that can seem to give an honest opinion of HZD from your own experience, the fact both of you didn't get the joke about being shunned and outcast is a bit of a head scratcher.
Agreed, it is a real shame. This was probably my most anticipated game this year being a huge Star Wars fan. And that's the worst thing about it, it does actually look like a really good game, but there's no way in hell I'm going to support what EA have tried to do here. The only way I could ever see myself buying this game now is if they just completely scrapped loot boxes altogether and lowered the grind for unlockables to something realistic. I'm so disappointed that EA com...
I'd be pretty confident that this whole mess will affect sales. They've definitely lost a sale here anyway.
No need to put the curse of poverty on him if he keeps buying into games like BF II.
You may or may not get that cookie. Depends if there's one in the loot crate.
@thekhurg: Yes, but they've also dropped the amount of credits earned. 20,000 credits for completing the campaign has now also been slashed 75% to 5,000, and you can be sure it won't end there.
I think the anger is completely justified. Gamers are very passionate about their hobby, and even more so when it's a huge franchise like Star Wars. So many people were looking forward to this game but EA basically used it as a guinea pig to test the waters on how they could maximise profit. Games are expensive enough as at is at €70. If EA had just put all effort into making it the best Star Wars game ever, instead of using it as some experiment to feed their greed, they'd have reape...
Yes, I usually do click and read articles. Not this though, as this isn't an article. This is just someone pulling random predictions out of his ass. I wouldn't class that as an article. Funny, huh??
