If you didn't play Fallout 3 or New Vegas, the game can seem kind of overwhelming, that is why its so popular. The underlying game mechanics are very similar to Skyrim but more FPS mixed with RPG. The loot and store system is key but takes experience, what to store and where. It's an example of an open world that works, and part of getting around will be knowing it is the Boston area. They get all the landmarks just right.

Of course, PC HD is going to look way better than consoles. Finding out a PS4 to a 4K monitor gives the graphics a volume effect which gets close to PC at 1080p. No comparison if PC is at 4K. This game looks like it will be worth it to play kicked back with the console, then played through again on a 4K PC. We know the PC versions are always bugged for months on end. The console versions will be just as bugged but patching is fairly smooth these days. On the art style, it is showing a possibl...

It is bizarre after all these years and there are still people that can't tell the difference between art style and graphics quality, always thinking graphics quality means how close to photoreal.

The point of game graphics is not to be photoreal. Photoreal would then look like every day reality, which is boring. Art style game graphics add to the story environment and overall immersion into the game. Not being able to perceive art style is like being color blind.

Can that helmet HUD mask be turned off? That would be really annoying, especially since anybody that has worn a helmet knows you want it to feel like there is nothing there an inch from your face. Some of the actual in-game shots don't look that good, the terrain close up looks pretty blocky. They are also mixing cinema render cutscenes between game graphics and the difference is too much of a contrast.

This is all hypothetical but on the PC, a GTX 980 can do 4K and is a resolution that is an option in some games. The comment was that Sony has another console ready to release. By now, people should know Sony started working on PS4+ as soon as the first PS4 shipment went out the door. They can work on the PS4++++++ at corporate, wait to see what Nintendo comes up with, decide if they want to release a PS4+ then. The PS4+ could work just like a PC GPU, choices for resolution, lighting effects,...

It is widely expected Nintendo will announce a new console next year. It takes about 2 years from an announcement to launch. This statement from Sony is probably preparations for going up against the NX.

The PS1 was a radical change in console architecture, the PS2 was a radical change from the PS1, the PS3 was a radical change from the PS2 and the PS4 was a radical change from the PS3, mainly the processor. The PS4+ won't be a radical change in architecture, just faster,...

Just another how-low-can-you-go in pseudo-professional gamezine "journalism". There are questions? Had this woman never played an Uncharted game before to recognize it was a remaster? And it seems a gamezine journalist would know getting to play UC4 at this point would be kind of a major event? That, and even worse, developing an article to criticize it for being too "formulaic"? Gamezine guerilla journalism is the epic fail.

One thing about game prices and first party. For Sony, once they pay off the development, localizing, and packaging, the rest is pure gravy. So, seeing a discount on a Sony first party game happen quickly means they paid off the investment cost and the discount price is all profit to them.

This is a different story for third party. A fast drop in prices not long after release usually indicates poor sales and more volume is needed to make or break.

The game al...

Yoshida was just being honest. Their marketing didn't know how to market such a different title. Got it on the first discount on Amazon and it has now been discounted again. The graphics should sell themselves, it was innovative to have interactive hi-def heads of the characters stat page (wonder how many people sped up a long capture and saw the characters seem to be whispering something?). It is supposed to have sold well, although it sounds like the dev thought it could have been a big...

Isn't this mech game kind of coming out of nowhere? It was shown in the new PS VR commercial and it looks like 3 vs 3 co-op, either locally or remote. A GG online mech combat game as a launch title, cool.

Muddy 720p with more sub-50 fps dropouts on the Star Wars Battlefront beta is probably the reason for Spencer needing to say something, anything. Next will be Fallout 4 and how poorly it performs on the Xbone compared to the PS4. Even the infamous xbot brand loyalty will start to fade having to explain sub-par gaming quality to their friends and family, especially when they will have seen it better and faster elsewhere.

He doesn't know? Then, he is higher than a kite or being xbot sleazy dishonest. In his wildest dreams, maybe, the Xbone catches up to the PS4.

This has been hilarious, seeing the writhing, lingering, grinding death throes of the xbot culture. They must be taking the good stuff, to still have these delusional hallucinations of xbox lasting past this generation, much less catch up. MS has torn apart too much to ever come back.

Hololens $3000 SDK dev kit

Rift $700 with 980GTX min

Vive about the same as Rift

PlaystationVR $399 maybe

If game characters get as good as the interactive title screen for Until Dawn, in VR, then it will approach a very immersive environment. The PS4 is the only one doing 120Hz. Component prices will be lower next year, small OLED screens will be less costly. Sony has put a lot of development into comfort, including allowing...

You need a GT980 minimum for Occulus, probably same for the Valve. They are using the GPU and won't run on Intel graphics, probably most low end AMD. Steam is popular because there is a bunch of low rez stuff, so a fairly large percentage won't be able to run VR. Valve should put up a sample analysis to see if the PC has enough horsepower.

If the online gameplay has a good feel, that can make up for a lot. Rainbow 6 has been disappointing after the first two. 4 was hyped up and didn't meet the hype. Ubi is becoming known to reach Molyneux heights for abusing the hype bar. BTW, in the future, these will be expressions: You're full of Molyneux, what a pile of Molyneux, oh, the name is Milo, is it?

It is too easy to get too many digital download versions that require deleting to free up more space (500GB). There is no real price advantage to digital download and getting the game on disk through the mail is easy. The big improvement would be if the devs allowed the game to install to the hard drive. The problem is that always leads to the game protection being cracked. PS4 games won't be exceeding DL-Bluray for several years. One thing to notice is games run straight from Blu-ray as ...

No, there is a lot of new technology, the big ones being head tracking and controller coupled interaction. Yes, individual parts were around years ago, like 2-inch tube CRT displays vs OLED displays, but their cost and bulkiness made them research projects. One thing people aren't seeing is the importance of the controller interface to the VR world. The Move sticks are the best interface for VR right now. If the PS VR launches early next year with OLED displays, a lot of the initial geek ...

Kojima hasn't said anything about quitting and his leaving looks like artistic disagreement with Konami management going to the "suit" management structure for video games, which somebody up there in corporate should be whipped with a wet noodle. It sounds like Kojima is going to start his own studio.

Microsoft was crazy to pay $2.5 BILLION for Minecraft. It was the last of butthead Ballmer's weird decisions. The whole red ring debacle *only* cost $1 Billion and that was considered an enormous loss. It only represents how terrible Microsoft has been for video gaming in general. They have been gradually tearing apart everything fun about video games and tried to turn video gaming into some kind of suits version. Maybe they had a chance to make a come back to PC games several years ago, ...
