I hate it as much as anybody, but microtransactions are here to stay. Right now, with piracy on the rise, they're what's keeping the gaming industry going. I do think they should give the main game away for free as a demo of sorts and let people go from there. A $60 game is difficult for some people to buy, but a lot of them can afford $2 or $3 for a new character.
I'm going to hold off for alittle bit. Jason Voorhees inclusion really has me interested, but MK games to go down in price kind of quick. The mid-summer drought is too far off, so I'm sure I can find it cheap then.
I'm sick of remasters. The gaming industry has become as stale as Hollywood with it's barrage of remakes. It's easy money to them. A quick payday that requires zero creativity.. and they know people will buy into it, because people like what's familiar to them and fear the unfamiliar.
I would be interested SEEING a remastered Gears, but I wouldn't buy it. I loved those games, but really have no interest in them beyond the multiplayer and right now, I have other games to curve my appetite for multiplayer.
I think of it's more of a case of the FPS genre becoming out-dated. I have Battlefield Hardline and have been having a great time with it; the graphics and flow of the game on the PS4 is amazing. I like it better than Battlefield 4.
On the flip-side, I don't trust critics. They can be bought and with Bloodbourne coming out in a week, I wouldn't be surprised if there has been a few bills handed under the table here and there.
I admit, I didn't read the article. But what was this person's health like prior to his death? How old was he? How much did he weigh? When I was a kid, I played video games from the time I got up till the time for bed and even then I stayed up late.
I'm glad I've never played that game. Sounds like PC gaming addiction at it's worst... Is the game really THAT good?
Just because it's FREE doesn't mean you need it; so when I do get offered FREE stuff, I like for it to be stuff I actually want. Otherwise, not interested. As it just clutters my HDD.
There is not a critic on this planet that knows me and knows what I like, except me. For me, I'm the only one worth listening to.
How many people picked PS4 over Xbox One, because of the promise of a free PS4 PS+ game? Speaking for myself, and I own the PS4 and Xbox One, but the promise of DriveClub PS+ edition excited me. So much so, that I passed on buying other driving games (Need For Speed: Rivals). I don't recall the word GUARANTEE ever being said, but if it was, it only adds to the argument that Sony screwed us over and should make-up for it.
Because that's what the media does. They bring up issues to spark controversy; therefore making their articles/websites/newspapers relevant. It's how they get paid. Journalism at it's finest.
Bad move, IMO, but if they managed to build their install base well enough over the holidays, word of mouth and kids wanting what their friends have might keep 'em strong.
EBAY.
I put my PS3 in the bedroom, where I rarely ever watch TV and never play games. Only reason I kept it was for it's apps and I have a TON of PS+ games loaded on it that getting rid of it seemed like I would be taking a ridiculous loss.
Besides that, when it comes to technology, I look forward.. not backwards.
I'd like to see South Park: The Stick Of Truth remastered and released on PS4. It came out after the PS4's release, so I never bothered picking it up. I'm not going back to buying PS3 games, but I would have liked to try that one.
I agree and I disagree. Microsoft might have taken a loss, but they increased their install base. A bigger install base, means more game and DLC sales. More word of mouth sales. We're only a year into this "war" that's expected to last almost a decade.
What Microsoft did with that sale was win over parents. Kids might be like "awww I wanted a PS4", but I guarantee you they won't pass up on their new Xbox One, especially if their friends go...
Master Chief, Kratos and Sackboy are not real either.
I believe Microsoft narrowed that fan base quite a bit with it's holiday sales. Not to mention, the company has made some great decisions as of late on the Xbox One's behalf, winning over a lot of gamers and non-gamers, while Sony has stalled on doing anything special, other than offering sales on DLC content, which doesn't really sell systems. If Microsoft continues it's $349 deal and Sony doesn't retaliate, it may overtake Sony in sales by year's end.
Every company is different. There have been plenty of companies out there that "make things right" - even the super powers Walmart, McDonalds, etc. My own internet service provide even during a big storm a few years ago. And for the record, I did call one person a sheep.. I called everyone who thinks that way a sheep.
This is exactly why I prefer gaming on consoles. Sure, you get better everything on PC IF you have the $$$ to keep up with the speedy technology. On a console, you update it every now and then, everyone plays on the same playing field and it's CHEAP, compared to what a top notch PC could cost you.
