Just to clear some things up. You can host your own vent or TS server. You only would pay for a server if you have SERIOUS need for a server that can hold 20+ people for some sort of clan and having multiple channels for multiple games. I downloaded the vent server and client and I just run the server others can join, easy peasy.

Also, battlelog has voip or you could use steam voice chat. If you are doing a pub coop on BF3, battlelog chat would be the best because you can add...

The guy never bashed, nor talked "too much". Consoles have pros and cons and he expressed the issues from a technical standpoint (which is all that matters when it comes to getting the most out of a system, the technical details), that's all.

If people actually knew how much developers work on games and all the issues and time they lose from their family and free time, people like you wouldn't say those things.

560 or 560 Ti? If just the 560, then you can play most things on high and some things on medium at 1080P and get 30FPS easy. If a 560 Ti, all things on high at 1080P and 30FPS.

You can see they list the 560 Ti as the minimum for playing it high settings.

Most games ADD effects when you turn on DX11 (like Crysis 2). DX11 itself is actually faster than DX9. BF3 only has DX10/11 support anyways.

So when you turn on or run in DX11, most games added new effects or do old effects in better quality. It is not actually DX11 that is slow, it is the new, better looking effects that get enabled at the same time that hurts your FPS.

It was DX11. BF3 on PC is ONLY DX10/11, that is why they are touting it so much, it is a first for a game to finally ditch DX9/opengl 2.0/console level API's.

The beta was running in DX11 (if you had a DX11 card), but you just got the performance benefit (higher FPS), things like tesselation or any other DX11 features are supposedly only on Ultra. Though we did get MSAA options in a deferred engine, which is awesome. That can only be done on DX11. Consoles don't choos...

I don't think you know what camping means. Camping is hiding and making the game take forever. In Rush mode, only the attackers can "camp" since if they sit behind cover or in a bush, nothing gets done, the game is prolonged. Defenders are SUPPOSED to wait for you and defend the bomb site, that isn't camping. Only in deathmatch games can camping be done by any team or person since the onus is on everyone to search and kill.

From the beta, your rig could prolly do all high settings at 1080P and get 60FPS most the time. Ultra might pull you down to more like an average of just 30fps.

There is a full graphics option menu in the beta. And ultra is a preset and you can choose custom and change individual settings to ultra and anything lower.

Got single 580GTX here and I have it set to ultra and just turn off Deferred AA and leave post AA on high and I get 60FPS at 1080P. I am thoroughly impressed.

I swear, it is EA playing a joke.

"Look, play this amazing game that DICE made? Isn't it so cool? Runs so well on your comp too with such nice graphics, great controls. Oh but wait, we can't be TOO awesome to our customers, so here, lets TEAR out the main menu and put it in a web browser and force origin on you so you have to run all 3 to play just the one game. Oh and install a plugin to your browser if you want to play too".

Graphics mods is just one type of mod too. There are gameplay mods as well that add even more. Oblivion coop mods, zombie mod for GTA4, all the great games that came from mods (CS, TF2, Desert combat showed dice how modern era could be cool) and so much more.

What settings? High DX9? Very High DX10?

I think your card should pull off DX9 with most on high and some things medium at 1680x1050 and get 30FPS+.

Yea, a quad core with decent speed is what made crysis really not slow down bad. The physics is intense in that game, not just the graphics.

What else is your comp? CPU was a big factor in Crysis. That could be the 10FPS you got, the physics can get INSANE on the game and the CPU would need a quad core to keep up on the higher settings.

Well texture resolution will have to be way, way lower, that is a ram issue. You can't optimize way out of not enough ram. The textures are already compressed far enough.

I need to find the article but they mentioned that vehicles and players and objects and so on will have reduced poly count and have more repeat textures on them and less unique ones. Also they said there will be less active AI, so you may be able to run away from AI easy on console because if you get too...
