A 30 FPS game can only get 100MS response time (60FPS game can get a 66MS response time). Let's say BF3 controller lag is similar to Killzone 3 (usually around 116MS, higher in complex scenes)

That means a 20MS drop would bring it back down to 100MS (the fastest it can be at 30FPS). Or, let's say the lag is similar to the awful Killzone 2 lag of 150 average or higher in complex scenes. A 20MS drop would mean a 40% improvement. 20MS may seem like a small amount, but i...

This makes me so sad and disappointed. Crysis 1 was amazing and then it gets cut down to all hell once Crysis 2 was made with consoles in mind (nothing against consoles, just wish they had kept the levels large and complex AI and have console graphics lower so as not to nerf PC so badly).

And now the game is turning into COD/rehash mode. It is still in New York, have NO clue what gameplay is like and size of levels and abilities and so on and you can now preorder.

No where in the article is USA affected, it just says "alleged". It's only a portion in Germany. Is OP trying to troll/start a flame war?

They are talking the architecture. Kepler has amazing performance per watt.

44% efficiency improvement over the 580 GTX and more efficient that the new 7900 cards from AMD. Pretty damn amazing.

You won't be getting anywhere close to the desktop version of the video card (170-190W), imagine a much smal...

I have yet to find a server that has employed that option. Since it is defaulted off, 99% of the ranked servers haven't touched it.

The demo has already been optimized and running on a single GTX 680, which is the successor to the GTX 580 (the GTX 580 was the 3 cards previously down for the original Samaritan demo).

It's amazing how fast things can actually change in the tech world.

With infinite sprint (and the sprint boost) and constant vehicle spawns, its MAYBE a 30 second hike at the MOST on the larger maps (and this is if you don't get in a squad and choose not to spawn in a spawn vehicle or flag point).

Try BF2 with a sprint meter, vehicles default spawn times longer, and you can ONLY spawn on the squad LEADER. BF3 has already been "noobed-friendly" for movement across large maps. The long walk ENCOURAGES smart play, and not COD arcad...

@kaveti6616

There are price restrictions on PS3/360 (not sure for nintendo but I would think so as well) that Sony/MS impose on retail/"full" games. Sony/MS have PSN/XBLA as an alternative for a smaller game/lower price point but there really is no middle ground. MS/Sony want games to be sold at 60 and up since the get % from that sale. They don't want to start a trend where a developer can sell his game for $50 or $45. Only exception I have seen for this is rem...

Halo had health packs...

the shields would recharge but health never came back...

Off the top of my head COD is the game that made regenerative health popular (especially super fast regenerating health)

That is the only way to do it Nitrowolf2. I do the same thing. 1080P at 60FPS gets me about 1 min of video and takes 4GB for me.

I bought a 1TB hard drive though for recording (at the time only 80 bucks, a WD Caviar Black too). Then I edit and make my video in Vegas, compress it (yes this takes forever but it makes a 50GB video become 1.5-2GB video), and upload it to youtub...

Vehicle whores? People who use vehicles too much?

COD has instilled such idiocy in a many gamers.

Looks pretty good. Looks like it kept most of the effects from PC but just down-scaled the precision (low res texture, shadows, SSAO, etc). Things like volumetric lighting and motion blur are missing but the art style holds up SO well.

Hope there is a demo so I can at least mess around with it.

3rd party? What is first party on PC? No one controls or limits what a game can be on the PC platform (MS, Sony, Nintendo all have rules for games to be on their system). What would a 1st party game on PC even mean?

And considering Ubisoft, EA, Activision, Valve, Bethesda, Warner Bros, and a huge array of 3rd party produce games on PC, how is there a "serious lacking" of "overall Major 3rd party Dev support"?

Back in 2009 you could do almost 2 times 4K for 500-550 dollar GPU:

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

That is 8580x4800 compared to 4k of 4096x2160.

Also, the card costs $440 as of now on newegg, and it only costs that much because it is no longer produced (it is 2 generations behind)

There are 3 factors. The resolution, the size of the display, and the DISTANCE you view the display from. And you could argue a 4th factor, your own eye sight.

46 inch TV at 8 feet away, I can tell when my 1080P PC game has anti-aliasing or not, ESPECIALLY if the image is moving (dot crawl is very obvious). 720P games with no AA or low quality AA (FXAA, MLAA which suffer from dot crawl just like no AA) is quite obvious in normal viewing distance on a 46 inch.

@Agent_Hitman

You want to show benchmarks of that?

Back in 2009 the 5870 6 edition output to 6 1080P displays and played Dirt 2, and it was single GPU.

A PC with the 7970 (the whole PC, not just the card) while playing BF3 at max settings pulls 369W

http://hardocp.com/article/...

The 400W number is theoretical.

4K post production (not theater but home 4K tvs) is 3840x2160=8,294,400 pixels.

Any PC gamer that plays on 3 monitors at 1080P each is 1920x1080x3=6,220,800; If mo...

A game is never responsible for making a computer overheat. If a computer over heats, it just means it already had insufficient cooling. The hotter a PC/console runs, the more optimization and usage of the hardware is being taking advantage of very well. If the hardware overheats, it wasn't designed well.

DX9 plays just fine and already is better than the console version, with DX11 it looks AMAZING with MVSS shadows, tessellation and HBAO (the same ambient occlusion used in BF3 on PC). The problem is DX11 performance is real bad. But already there is a leaked patch which solves the problem, this is just a sensational article.
