Only Blu-Ray stuff. This article is bias, its by the HD-DVD Promotional Group!!! The main reason why HD-DVD standalone players are beating Blu-Ray standalones is because the PS3 makes a sensible alternative. So if your out to buy a Blu-Ray player you have the option for the PS3 which bonuses up as a media center and Games machine!
The only fair way to compare how the formats are doing is with Disc sales, and right now Blu-Ray is TROUNCING HD-DVD, why can't you HD-DVD purists (S...
And why wouldn't the original PSP be able to as well regardless? You make it sound like its a new feature that the old PSP wont have, when all you need is a PSP with the ability to connect to the internet. OH! thats all of them!
So if/when this new service appears it will work on all PSP's.
Still.. I would like to have a link of where you got that info, or did you just make it all up on assumptions?
and thats the most important thing. Disc sales.
If PS3 sales increase thats more potential Blu-Ray customers. if say PS3 sales start to be 10 to 1 on HD-DVD standalones, Even if only 1 out of 5 PS3 owners buy a blu-ray disc its still double. You can talk till your blue in the face with stats, but the reality is Blu-Ray is killing HD-DVD.
Where did you get that figure for HD-DVD in Europe? Well Regardless, I live in Denmark and am a native Brit. Everywhere I go I ...
Thats a clincher for me! I never realised it was officially FULLY useable on the PS3!! Six speed Gear shifting and a clutch! If GT5 Prologue uses the G25 wheel (to its full potential, Not just backwards compat with the Driving force) which I fully expect, then i'm going out to buy one of those crazy wheels!
Are behind Haze. The team that made Timesplitters. These guys love Sony systems. Its not the publisher that determines games primary development system, its the developer. And much like Criterion are doing with Burnout Paradise for EA, These games are being developed PIMARILY on PS3 because the development teams chose to, they prefer the PS3. Its the same the other way around, some developers prefer Xbox 360 so focus primarily on that system for development. The reason why so many ports of la...
There are more countries than just USA and UK in the world, to be fair its comparing sales COMBINED. To get this you have to select "All" for each console in regions then refresh. Here I've done it for you...

The pics from Gizmodo are the ones at the top (over 2 hours before launch). The pics from PS3Forums and PS3 fanboy are from the bottom (when the launch actually occured).
Gizmodo were obviously assuming Koreans are like Americans and Japanese, but it seem they are more like Europeans. They just chill and wait till last minute ;)
and the browser has gone through a bit of an overhaul since the early firmwares. Since getting my PS3 in March the speed of the web and store has increased dramatically over the last few firmwares. I was disappointed at first as it seemed only marginally faster than the PSP (Which is DEAD slow). But now it loads quicker than my PC!! And its alot smoother scrolling too. Plus with the added zoom feature thats attached to R3 its now my default web browser (I use it more than the PC). Of course i...
Thats 5,499 Kr. I was shocked at the price, I still bought it though as relatively speaking its price is ok compared to other electronic devices sold here. The Xbox 360 and Wii are all relatively hiked too so its not like there is a rift of a difference.
People here in Denmark still generally have the feeling that the PS3 is expensive though compared to the rest of the consoles because its still 2,000 kr more than Xbox 360. It recently got cut to 4,999 Kr but it needs a bigger...
We got that first! YAAAAY!
But seriously, the Euro store is depressing. It seems like that will change soon, but even the stuff coming is nothing on what I expected PSN to be like. I want at LEAST 10 PS1 games a month, and good ones not random how it seems now. 1 big classic a month isnt much to ask for amongs them either (Where the F is FFVII??). I also want more demos, hell even Xbox live had 3 times more than PSN has now at the same time frame of release. Bring out more clas...
Wipeout Fusion (which stopped working in 1.7) Works again
And Eye toy Chat works now!
Now my whole collection of PS1 and PS2 games work (approx 25 PS2 and 20 PS1) apart from Vib-Ribbon, it crashes at the start of level 1.
Sony are still working on BC, but there can't be that many games left now anyway. All the big guns are covered.
I saw Calling All Cars headlined and thought WOO HOO! At last we can try it! Then discovered it was a trailer!!! and to top it off the Spiderman trailer is SD!!?? and a trailer of flOw???? WHY? I've been PLAYING flOw for 2 months now!!
Totally ridiculous. If anything right now, the PS Store is seriously dampening my enthusiasm in PS3. The 1.8 Update was nice, lots of cool new features.... But the PS store is laughable right now in Europe. Still no PS1 service and only 1 single ...
This "Game" Is HUGE here. My girlfriend, a total NON GAMER has bought 5 of these games. The latest is a specific DANISH Legends package which even got nominated here in Denmark for Game of the year (Lost to Sims though).
The GF has Singstar Parties with her friends, specifically to sit all night, get tipsy and have a laugh with all her Girly friends.
I bought the PS3, and when she saw what PS3 Singstar will involve she got incredibly chuffed, and this o...
If you are going by sales to judge there is no "Interest" then thats not a good gauge. I know MANY people in my small world that are interested. They just can't afford it. but hey, thats just my neck of the woods, there is the whole world out there, and the internet community is NOTHING compared to real world mass.
Slow sales doesn't mean lack of interest.
Sega got it right, and were advertising the bollo*ks off DC. People were coming around to it, and buying it, just like people are coming around to Xbox 360 (from the previous gens so-so reception).
Also, the DC was MUCH bigger that Xbox 360 is now in Japan. It sold more units there in 2 months than the xbox 360 has sold to date. So saying the DC wasn't competiton for PS2 is stupid. The lucky break for Sony, however was that Sega put up sticks and quit the race, just as the DC ...
As long as it makes things better and better im all for them!
Although, I do long for Artist/Album/track and Year/month/image depth in Music and Photo. This bugs me right now only having Artist/track (so there is a big list of ALL songs per artist) or album/track (having to search through a big list of albums). I have 45GB of music so its tedious not having three levels. Some arranging in Video and Game menus wouldnt go amiss too. Like Movie TV and Video camera folders. and De...
But im a parent and a gamer, and I do feel like I need to protect my son from violence etc in games. But as a gamer I like the latest tech too. The Wii doesnt appeal to me at all really. I had a 360 and my son loved Sonic (Ironic seeing as adults say its a bad game), I loved GeoW (Played it when he was in bed), the wife to be didnt like anything on 360.
Now I have a PS3 (traded the 360) and he loves Super Rub a Dub and I love Motorstorm... also with PS3 the bonus is my wife to ...
So they are just scared because at this rate its going to pass Xbox 360 by year end if not before.
Thats how i'm taking it now. Im in Europe and thought the store started out really well, but since launch virtually nothing has come out. flOw appeared a week after, shortly followed by Super Rub a Dub. for the last month all thats appeared is Virtua Tennis demo (The ONLY new demo since launch) some video clips and ridiculous addons for RR and Genji.
I've really been looking forward to playing CaC, and its frustrating to see a major release game not being launched worldwide. Wh...
To buy a Blu-Ray standalone player over the PS3, even then you'd look at the recent PS3 firmware update that allows some incredible DVD/BD playback features if your TV supports them.
The only real advantages a standalone has over PS3 that I can see are, it may run quieter, and it will allow something to be stacked ontop of it whereas the PS3 will most likely be limited to the top of the stack, unless you like balancing expensive hifi seperates on a mega curvy surface.
