Your challenge to compare systems will not work as you skirted an important consideration. The 360 has a HUGE library of excellent games. The PS3 is decidedly lacking in games worth playing.
So attempting to compare the longevity of the two consoles when one gets only occasional play against the other which is played constantly is absurd!
My launch 360 averages 10 hours of gameplay each and every day between me. my wife and my sons. I'll hold off on purchasing a ...
I have a Creative Zen and love it, but I bought a Zune for my wife last Christmas. I have to say, the Zune is a far better player than my Creative. The Zune's software is great; it's intuitive and full featured and extremely easy to use. I love it.
I plan on getting one of the Halo 3 Zune players when they are released. I'll give my Creative to my nephew.
It could be a big setback for Sony. Forget the potential loss of revenue from the lawsuits... It will be all the negative talk from sales people at Best Buy, Wal-Mart and every other electronics seller.
It's the public's perception that could be most damaging.
All it will take is a story on the Wall Street Journal followed by the New York Times. If CNN, MSNBC & Fox News report it, well, things won't be looking so bright for Sony AND Blu-ray.
I...
As neither format dominates the other, studios will be forced to support both formats to maximize profits. As I stated above, I believe that if a knockout punch is not delivered to one format from the other before the Christmas holiday season, then you will see widescale support of both formats. It's all about the 'benjamins.'
IF neither format delivers a successful 'knockout punch' which undeniably decides a victor for the current format war, and sales of both formats continues through the the end of the year, watch as movie makers from oppossing camps begin to offer releases for both formats in a big way.
One thing is certain: the film industries ONLY loyalty is to money. If big money can be made by offering movies on the opposing format then it will happen.
Both formats will be lose substantial market share as digital media downloads and direct feed become prevalent.
Just as music CDs are quickly losing marketshare to digitally delivered content, DVD movies and documentaries will be replaced with digitally delivered content as well.
I watch 2-3 HD movies and programming every week via Xbox Live Marketplace. The ONLY movies and CDs I purchase are items for my limited, specialised collection. I do not feel the need or...

He's lookin' buff too!
The highly respected Japanese gamer mag, Famitsu, gave Forza 2 a superb rating of 9/9/9/9. I doubt if Famitsu is in "Microsoft's pocket."
Test Drive Unlimited!!! Awesome, awesome game!
...with a projected $17 billion in sales for fiscal 2007.
Now that Amazon's credibility has been addressed it should be pointed out that Amazon sales reflect "brick & mortar" (regular retail stores) sales as well. So yes, this is important as it reflects an important trend.
The 360 Elites sold out. The demand was greater than the supply.
This far more advanced and innovative than the iPhone.
Horizontal, vertical, which ever way you like it! This will make Microsoft millions!
Except that "just Amazon" posted $2.92 billion in sales last quarter and is projected to have around $17 billion in sales for fiscal 2007.
Yeah.. just Amazon.
'nuff said.
The rankings are quite fluid. Checking at 4:15 Central time shows the 360 ranked @ #17 with the PS3 fading to #27. The Wii? #6.
It will be interesting to see the numbers once the 360 Elite is re-stocked. It sold out last week on Amazon.
Personally, I hate all the speculation that has been going on for months. The story came across several rss news feeds it looks like this is finally confirmation that MGS4 is going multi-platform.
First, if true, it only makes sense. In fact it makes more sense than MGS4 remaining exclusive to the PS3.
People, please, regardless of brand loyalty, let's all agree that the quality of games we expect today are extremely expensive to produce.
The only...
It's $ony's pitiful record of backing the wrong format. Sony's reputation as a whole has been damaged over the last few years. Too much bad press; most of it deserved.
That being said, consumers look for value. They want the most for their money and here, Blu-ray does not deliver. HD-DVD is the affordable high definition format, not Blu-ray.
And---you won't find the PS3 in the DVD player aisle at Wal-mart, Target or Best Buy. That is a key factor. Consumers looki...
The format war is far from over. In fact, as HD-DVD player sales continue to increase their sales lead over stand-alone Blu-ray players, HD-DVD sales will gain greatly and perhaps even surpass Blu-ray disc sales.
It is no surprise that Blu-ray got a major boost from PS3 sales, but if PS3 sales continue to lag and even falter, the Blu-ray boost will become negligable.
Wal-Mart and inexpensive HD-DVD players will help determine the winner. Right now it's looking li...
The op-ed piece where Narutoboy expresses his foaming-at-the-mouth disbelief as to why consumers choose HD-DVD over Blu-ray is an amatuerish, poorly written rant not even worthy the fanboy site that the SonyProtectionGroup is. Drivel!
Yes, and as noted previously, calling consumers who choose HD-DVD over Blu-ray stupid is idiotic. What an intelligent and convincing way to sell your point.
I'd wager that Narutoboy rides the short bus to school and they only let hi...
Epic's GOW had a great deal of influence in the design of the 360.
