I'd prefer they simply improve on what made the games successful in the first place and hold off on too much experimentation.
I personally have faith in Dragon Age 2. I liked the first game but I found the game lacked personality due to the mute protagonist. While solid, it felt kinda bland. I'm unaware of any changes to gameplay besides the focus on a main character so I won't say it's too drastic of a change yet.
$60? *looks at GoW collection and Sly Cooper trilogy* Knock off $20 and we'll talk, I can go buy all 6 ps2 S.C. and PoP titles and still have change left over. The first Splinter Cell games are like $2 and $5 used.
As with everything, greed gets in the way.
Why would you go through the trouble? Stuff like this has literally never even crossed my mind. So you're invincible in an online game.....now what? It might be funny for a match or two but then it's pointless.
Oh me too, I didn't mean to sound so final about it. I'll just really need to see which way the wind is blowing, if it's mostly casual or shooters, I'm out.
I'm just struck by how few shooters there were last gen. There was Halo, Black, Timesplitters,a few smaller ones and that was it. There was more variety and genres than I can count. Even a general genre like "3rd person action games" had enough sub-genres and variety to choke a horse.
...
Half that list is shooters. :/
" The truth is that to keep the brand, and maybe the entire genre alive, they may have to."
*crosses fingers that they don't charge now* I'm sure it would be an international day of mourning if Cod and fps' died. I wouldn't know what to do with myself. /s
There's more gamers out there that don't play fps' than there are people who do.
An example of a more/just as unreliable console would be the NES, the pin connectors in the cartridge slot are notoriously bad. I don't understand why people thought blowing into cartridges actually did something.
*clears shelf space*
People are going to start leaving the hobby, it's as simple as that. If you really like jrpgs, platformers, etc, is it worth buying a console just for the few&far between releases in a genre you enjoy? Personally this will probably be my last gen. I heartily despise where this industry is headed and I'm growing increasingly frustrated with the limited genre choices we're given.
An article posted yesterday states that they're going to spend 200 million dollars advertising Cod yet here they are crying poverty AGAIN. These companies are a sick joke.
I never assumed it was a launch title anyway. Anybody know what they will have at launch?
I'm thinking both MS and Sony really need to delay all this s**t and think long & hard about it. It's not too late to scrap it all, we'll forgive you.
Somebody needs to screencap this topic and use it as an illustration in a "Why N4G is broken" article. Look at the absolutely vile, hate-filled s**t posted on here yet these posters still have 2,3 or 4 bubbles? Does this site even have mods? Any other site would have mass banned all your asses. I'm starting to regret joining.
Damn thats an in-depth article. The tech talk is pretty interesting.
I'm kinda warming up to it because it's something completely different and won't be the same old games just with a new control scheme, it'll end up forcing creativity. I just can't justify buying something to play shooting games that already work just fine with a normal controller.
Maybe I'm just twisted but I hate that wrestling and boxing games won't let me beat someone to death. Isn't the cliche in sports games "realism"?
I'd play sports games if they let me literally kill another player, especially in wrestling games.
I'm torn as to what system to get this for. I'd much prefer to play it with a ds3 but I'm gun-shy because it's Platinum/Sega again, I don't want a repeat of Bayonetta.
Kudos to them but why then are they still so sexy? Make a race where the standard of beauty is physically repugnant to human eyes instead of making sexy elves.
I think his point was that by deciding how much or how little they spend on the game, players determine how much $ the Farmville experience is worth to them. "Hardcore"/console players are TOLD how much the games are worth: $59.99 and $14.99 for dlc, there's no leeway and it's either all or nothing.
I think this is something even the mainstream media will jump on.
I'm honestly very conflicted about this. On one hand I'm all for creative freedom, if somebody wants to make Flight Simulator 9-11, so be it. On the other hand, theres a million other ways besides cheap sensationalism that developers could push boundaries in storytelling and content.
I played the demo...it's not good. I like the idea but the fact that it's a $15 dl kinda limited it. It needs some real time and resources put into it.
