Everyone that wasn't Truefan knew it. All the price-cut did was staunch the bleeding. Next month X1 will be dropping its weekly average once more.

And not a single SKU outsold the PS4 version too, if those software charts are correct. As expected, yesterday's news-spurt from MS was preemptive damage control.

PS3 had all of the Playstation brand's good will behind it, the might of Sony's 1st party studios and competitive, or more powerful hardware (depending on the developer and resources invested) than its nearest competitor. It also launched a year, to a year and a half later than the Xbox 360, and it still managed to catch up, and eventually surpass the 360. MS has none of the advantages Sony had last generation.

It's a 5 week tracking period, so 30k/ wk with a price cut. That's pretty terrible, and still tracking way under 360 sales with launches aligned. Next month they'll be back to 100k or lower. This is the most obvious form of damage control prior to Sony stomping on their teeth in June NPD. I expect Sony comes in around 250-300K, since it's a 5 week tracking period.

No AA, worse depth-of-field, artifacting, muddy textures, lower shadow mapping, judder, screen-tear. The possibilities are endless. Did you check out the Sniper Face Off?

"There's always time for improvement" =/= "Will assuredly, 100%, be 1080p at launch". Titanfall never got the promised/ teased resolution boost. In fact, nothing about that patch has been mentioned for months now.

What mark (in the video) is the actual quote at? I wouldn't mind listening to what is said, as this paraphrasing is kind of hearsay.

Edit (Article is from March 10th):

Logic would dictate that there are simply fewer X1 Ghost Edition SKUs. If you really think that Destiny will shift more units on the X1, you should probably look at what happened with Watch Dogs, as well as factor in that the PS4 has probably twice the install base of the X1 by now.

Micx, my post is not misleading. I mentioned VGC, and no other site, therefor the noun clause would default to VGC.

4.5m according to VGC. LOL. I can't believe people actually put any sort of credibility in that site.

This is just a cash grab before the DS 2: Ultimate Edition on PS4/ X1. I passed on that season pass nonsense for the same reason.

Bungie is "aiming" for that spec; read their quotes again. They never confirmed that the game would be running at those specs on the Xbox one. Nothing is known yet about final resolution and FPS for the X1 version. I would wait for the Digital Foundry analysis coming in the next week or two once both betas are out.

They need to muzzle this Eagle fellow. Two days, a couple dumb statements and he's already undoing the goodwill generated by Phil Spencer, price-cuts and more.

Smart man. Nexon's involvement is also a cause for dampened elation and sizeable caution.

@ Death. Natural Doctrine, GG: Xrd, Kingdom Under Fire 2, the NIS JRPG, Deep Down, Rime, No Man's Sky, just off the top of my head. And Destiny and Diablo are great examples of Sony working some 3rd party magic, as those games have essentially been given the mindshare value of exclusives through co-marketing deals. We'll see Ubisoft like ratios of PS4>X1 sales for those titles, for sure.

Sony has been very savvy this gen with their partnerships and 3rd party develo...

Ryse, DR3 and TF? Every game that you mentioned was commissioned from an external developer, all of them are third party, and MS don't own a single on of those IPs. Did you even read the article? You have, however, illustrated MS issue in this regard (lack of 1st party output and studios) rather well.

Retailers need to empty stock before they order more, and traditionally retailers do not refresh if they have units rotting on the shelves. MS is not giving them a rebate on each unit out of the kindness of their hearts. They're doing it because MS channel stuffed to hit the 5m quarterly figure and has barely sold any since. I bet you next quarter's results have them at maybe 5.2m (shipped).

I guarantee that June's numbers are horrendous and July's are even worse. MS will be around Wii U levels until MCC. Its not inconceivable that Nintendo might beats them in June/ July due to Mario Kart.

4247d ago 11 agree2 disagreeView comment

Except that there has NOT been ANY week where the X1 has IN REALITY beaten the PS4 in the NPD, except for maybe January. Even in that month, the PS4 was severely supply constrained and the total difference was like 10K units or something.

So any other week, in any other month, on VGCs, where the X1 is miraculously selling more in the US, has been utter and complete fantasy.

4247d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

And assuredly, they'll be off for June and July. They're always off, use no measurable scientific methods, and clearly skew the numbers in favor of certain brands. Its a completely unreliable and useless site, considering there are much better resources from which to draw.

Edit: @ bleeds, VGCs LITERALLY over-tracked the X1 by 100%, or more. There's a margin of error, and then we enter the realm of pure fabrication. VGCs lives in the latter category.

No need to kill it. The gunplay is decent, the visuals are always top-notch, it's the story that falls apart. Such interesting lore too, and they script it like a CoD in space. I think a new sub-studio, particularly the Mercenaries guys, could do great work with the franchise. Mercenaries is literally THE premier portable FPS. Killzone could use some of Cambridge's freshness and ingenuity.
