Hopefully this project can avoid any further complications. It's so sad to see such a well-intended project face such scrutiny. It sounds like they have some great ideas going here.

You and everyone else. They officially announced that it would be out on the second. I wonder what gives...

I'm withholding judgement until I try it out myself, but I have low expectations. It looks too small for my fingers (and I like to think I have normal sized fingers).

Well said. Another important issue that should be brought up is that, by definition, gaming is a competitive environment. For better or worse, trash talking will always be an element of that. Do people go way to far sometimes? Sure, and this is unfortunate and takes away from the fun that video games provide. However, even in the healthiest of competitions, people WILL talk trash. While this is of course different than bullying, I think many people that have nothing to do with gaming fail to ...

It does seem a little strange to announce it this early, but I think we all knew it would be getting DLC.

"The ONLY exclusive games will be games that otherwise couldn't run on the hardware."

Probably true. However, the same argument could be made if the we were talking about an actual successor to the 3DS. My main point isn't that the original 3DS should be getting the "New" 3DS's games, but that time and resources that would have went towards the original 3DS are now going towards this. Even worse, there is always a possibility that developers wo...

The difference is that, at least to my knowledge, all of those DSi exclusives were small, unmemorable titles, whereas as Xenoblade is a full-sized game that is being put on the n3DS because the original couldn't handle it.

Also of note, is that Xenoblade will presumably not be a digital-only title. While the DSi may have had a few retail exclusives (4 if I recall correctly) none of them could be considered to be anywhere near as important as this is. In addition to alien...

I believe answer to both your questions is yes. It appears that it's good enough to get it's own games, but not good enough to be worth shelling out $200 to replace your old system(putting fans in a danged if you do danged if you don't situation).

It's also apparently not worth giving a halfway decent name.

You're blaming the fanbase for this?

Here is a list of all the DSi games that couldn't be played on the DS. This should be proof enough that the situation is much worse than it was when the DSi was released.

This is a totally different situation than with the GBC and DSi. The GBC was released 9 years after the original GB, and they really shouldn't be considered to be the same system. As for the DSi, it had very few exclusive games, none of which were as big of a deal as Xenoblade.

But didn't the DSi have almost no exclusive titles? Xenoblade alone makes this a bigger deal than the DSi situation.

Also, I don't recall Sony ever doing this with the PSP.

"Satoru Iwata also mentioned that several other titles are in development exclusively for the New Nintendo 3DS. These will not be playable on the old 3DS models."

In other words, basically all future major 3DS titles will require the new 3DS. This is ridiculous. Who wants to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a new version of the system they already own? Unless my 3DS XL breaks, I have absolutely no intention of buying a new one until they release the next generat...

Sony's testing looks at a lot of things that has NOTHING to do with the quality of a game. Simply failing testing does not mean that 4J "tried to release us a sub-par product."

@randomass Hopefully you're right that it is a mistake, but it just seems strange to me that the first thing to pop into his head would be a game that released months ago. Like you said though, it's impossible to know for sure.

Based on the way he said it, I don't think he misspoke. I'm gonna guess he genuinely had no idea.

Ya, the quote that said, "For us Vita's still the best handheld dedicated gaming device out there," really loses something when you realize that this guy doesn't even know that Borderlands 2 launched on the Vita months ago.

I love the game as well, but it definitely has multiple issues that could be classified as "game-breaking," such as crashing every 45 minutes or so, ancient relics always disappearing from inventory, a framerate that dips below 10, and (possibly less game breaking but no less excusable) one of the DLC trophies is unobtainable.
