i think the big obstacle is convincing the moms that they need a 360 + Kinect. If they have a Wii already, chances are they won't get the 360 and if they don't, the Wii and its large variety of casual games already available may appear more appealing.
My friend knows what a 360 and knowing Kinect, still got a Wii for his 6 yr old and 3 yr old kids. The Wii is just a more friendly casual household name.
The Kinect 'has' to capture the hardc...
interesting. In that video at 1:40-1:41, you can see the footage isn't 'live' and possibly with actors. The left avatar on the raft jumped before the kid with the blue shirt jumped.
well not a good way to entice gamers to a new device with something like cirque de soleil. You're just asking for lots of O_O moments from the audience when they're having a W T F moment on how the performance relates to the gaming device.
yea those lucky first 150 fans get to attend the entire E3 showfloor. THAT is pretty sweet and awesome. Not to mention chilling with Kojima himself, UC2 team, and Kevin Butler. Sony definitely knows how to treat their fans.
maybe that guy is one of the cirque de soleil performers
well if i remember, the italian banner ad shows it has a hdd and built-in wifi.
according to Engadget, the starwars lightsaber movements were scripted events.
"The Star Wars game was pretty badass-looking -- you play a Jedi, rushing down stormtroopers and deflecting laser bolts left and right, wielding a few Force powers, and confronting a certain deep-voiced Sith Lord for a one-on-one duel. Based on the gestures and action we saw, though, it was a pretty heavily scripted experience. Still, there's no scripting a two-handed light saber grip, and...
Well it appears half the size of a 360 controller and as long as a wiimote. I suppose it's like putting a wiimote at the base of a tv or on top of it.
the raft game doesn't show accuracy and precision since it's really just tilt body left / right or jump, which you could easily do with any device.
i think hardcore gamers anxious for kinect should wait a bit before getting it. See if it gets more than just the casual offerings that the studio heads are talking about, since they seem eager to direct kinect towards the casuals to draw them away from the hardcore image of the 360.
that actually looked like one of those creepy wtf sony commercials
well the guy writing the article is talking about the games MS is pairing with the Kinect.
He's not really saying the device itself is imitation, but that the presented games are really just stuff that the Wii already has and not games that really reflect the potential of the device.
The same can be said about the Move, but hey at least Move showed RE5 and Socom can be done. MS just has to show us that a non-casual game can be done on the Kinect.
lol for some reason the star wars kid flashed across my mind
edit: "Apparently the player has to wave their arms to swing their Lightsaber in on-screen battles. The brief footage showed the player taking on Darth Vader. And it looks pretty f-ing cool, we're told. "
Okay that's stupid. Those guys didn't even see the game. They were told. =P
Was at the world premiere in Hollywood today for the movie. Never really play movie-turned-games but hopefully this is as good as the movie. Great for the kids.
But HD-DVD is dead.
I think at this point in time, std hdd and wifi are a given. Internal power brick would be sweet. Looks like bigger vents on the side right over where the core is at.
Edit: Italian banner ad shows wifi is internal
Judging by the length of the disc drive, the system looks relatively the same size
But ms is patenting ui control using motion gestures, so a new xmb 3d space may not appear any time soon
"This Changes Everything"
Really? If they added one more word it'd be even more unoriginal. I'm sure I saw that slogan somewhere before =P /s
Well we'll know the real price soon enough. I just hope they don't have paid actors doing the demoing presentations at E3. They should get that crazy woman and her kids instead.
I honestly can't wait to see it at best buy stores when the adults are playing that raft game. It'll be like years ago watching the kids play with eyetoy at toysrus.
