Yeah, we certainly wouldn't want to see them buy studios like they did with Naughty Dog, Guerilla, or Sucker Punch again. What a disaster that was!
Think about how I feel. I first played RE on Saturn. Guess I'm screwed...
2 different people. Oneill just joined this month.
I wouldn't hold my breath for Nintendo to offer praise for 3rd party franchises that helped Sony almost push Nintendo out of the business.
You certainly won't see them praise it for franchises like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear which have Nintendo roots (nobody counts MSX games, Microsoft). Kingdom Hearts has a lot of Nintendo history too. Onimusha actually began development as a Nintendo game, and obviously Capcom and Nintendo have a pretty rich history with those ...
Annnnd .... it's already been cracked
Id temper expectations on any ideas that consumers will be benefitting much from the buyout. Maybe some of the execs, but excuse me for not caring about their wallets.
Anyone looking to buy them out can only have short term returns in mind. Like Blockbuster or the thousands of indie stores that Gamestop's expansion helped to shutter, a brick and morter media store doesn't have a very good outlook in 2019.
The entire profit model of the corporatio...
Similar to what Livingthedream said for me. I get blank stares when I ask adult gamers if they've played anything thats not that mainstream stuff like COD, FIFA, NBA2k, GTA, etc.
Same things with the other systems too. It blew my mind to see a line of people on Black Friday buying nothing but Activision/EA's annualized offerings.
Any kid under 13 playing anything other than Fortnite or Minecraft is like a damn unicorn where I live.
That's fair, but the way they "announced" the Respawn title doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence.
I don't think they did. Furukawa admitted it wouldn't be easy, but I think they stuck with 20 mil. That was just last month.
Rumors are saying they sold 10 million+ in Oct. through Dec. That's going to put them close to 16mil. for the year so far, with a few months to go. It'll be surprising, but they might hit 20.
A new gen is coming. Writers will write about Sony and MS's future. Giving an opinion on what someone thinks a company should do is not "puffery." It's literally what 90% of us do on these forums. I thought some of this guys points were decent. No sensationalism either.
As an FYI...You want to know why we see so many write about MS in particular? Because people who supposedly don't care about the product swarm these articles and give them more attentio...
@Darth
2009 or so through 2014. I'd say any Ratchet between a Crack in Time and the remake. Fuse (nuff said) was in that time, and honestly, I thought Resistance 3 was average.
Your point is well taken, but I think they've nailed all of their console titles this gen, and their OR stuff is impressive from what I've seen. They've got a mega hit with Spiderman and SSOD was very good imo. Even as a remake, R&C was top notch too.
...
@shadow
No, it's really not a "puff" piece. I'm not sure you know what that means. It's just talking about what the author thinks MS needs to do in order to succeed. Fair points are made too.
Talk about revisionist history though. MS pushing Sony to improve PSN (yes that costs $) was a good thing. I'll take the quality of the paid online on PS4 over what we got last gen. Now I wish PS would push dedicated servers and deliver on ...
Is this a puff piece? It seems to just be listing off all the things that MS needs to do, which I'd think most people would agree to. It doesn't propose with any certainty that they can accomplish these things like other clickbait has done.
There's a lot of "ifs" that are easier said than done. I hope they do, because the more great games the better imo.
But who will publish it? Insomniac has talked about the large scale of the game, which sounds like a sizable investment. Considering the luke warm sales numbers, does a third party invest to develop the game across 3 or 4 platforms? I just don't see it.
MS seems like the best bet, but we'll see.
True. I'll take the quality of what they did this gen over the quantity that they put out last gen.
I could have sworn SP and GG started with Nintendo titles. Shellshock was also multiplat.
Or do you mean studios like Zipper? I don't think I've ever seen anyone complain about its acquistion like this.
This logic makes no sense to me: "Microsoft instead of funding their own projects paid money to keep games off other platforms."
In order to produce the next Ninja Theory game, Microsoft has to fund it. In other words, ...
