That's disappointing but not surprising. My hope would be that, if they do expand to mobile, they keep the MTs on those platforms.
I don't begrudge anyone for trying to earn more money, but I can't imagine what lootboxes and MTs would even look like in a AAA QD game.
Didn't he actually say Trump supporters as well as Socialists? Meaning just more diverse backgrounds generally? His point being that there is a lack of political diversity in the main stream games media, which I fully agree with. Not everyone needs to cater to those left leaning youths you mention.
Your attempt to downplay both the point he was trying to make and his actual comments is a good example of the problems he has been vocal about.
It's ...
I get the premise the author is going for, but if they don't get those console sales or mid range PC user sales, most studios couldn't afford the extended investment to make those types of boundary-pushing games. It's just a reflection of the current market.
I get that people who spend $$$ on a high end PC would buy those games, but devs would be spending too much money for such a limited return.
Between Bioware's continued work on Old Republic and EA's teams like DICE, it probably made a lot of sense on paper. Fast forward a few years, and look where we are. I agree with your points.
Like Colin has mentioned though, does Disney care enough at this point to do anything about it? Can they get out of the deal for less $ than it will cost them to stick it out?
I'm admittedly ignorant to most of Netease's business. That Bungie investment is quite sizable though. Not that it's 100% a good thing, but do you think the devs get cash just to allow Netease to shovel out mobile cash-ins in China?
Good interview, and wishing the best for QD in the future. I don't know much about the "controversies" they've had, but I'm glad more people will get to experience their games.
Netease is very interesting. They've certainly got a good hold on the Chinese market, but I'm curious how that translates to their investments in Bungie and now QD. Is it just cash in exchange for publishing rights in China?
100%. I thought it was their best yet.
As much as I enjoyed games like Spiderman and Assassin's Creed last year, Detroit should have gotten more GOTY nominations than either of them.
As long as it's prior to release, it's fine. Fun facts: RDR2's was the day prior to release. Spiderman's was 3 days.
I bet Rockstar and Insomniac were confident in those games.
Uh huh...
The embargo date is the publication date for reviews, not the date they can start playing it.
“We don’t want to ever change our values to fit a game or some other entity. We want to change that entity to fit our values.”
LMAO. Who says that?
And please tell us more about those NCAA values.
@Sampsonon
Bless your little heart.
@Otter
Just ignore him. If you see someone speaking up in defense of "debating" the console warz and they do so by throwing shade in the same breath, you know what they're all about.
But bet your ass 90% of the "Nintendo games are for kids" people will also be talking up games like Kingdom Hearts 3 next week.
@Noctis
It's at least entertaining. Wait til he realizes that evil GaaS games like Fortnite are played by more people on PS4 than any other console.
So I guess that means if GaaS does take over, we should blame PS4 players for supporting them so much?
Yes, and the most important stat from the Super Bowl will be the number of season tickets sold by each team.
I have many questions for any adult who makes the console war part of how they "enjoy gaming."
Reality in a video game wherein characters use a machine to go back in time to battle against a group that wants to use alien technology to rule the world.
How dare they "supercede reality and rationality and facts"!!!!!!

Aww, I love the GCN discs though. I disagree about the "turned off many 3rd party devs." You'd be hard pressed to find a direct link between the two that amounts to many games foregoing GCN for that reason. There may have been a handful, but by and large, all of the major 3rd parties were there. Gamecube wasn't perfect, but its problems shouldn't have led to being outsold 5:1.
Going toe to toe with Sony and MS in the HD console war is basically suici...
Man, I have earned an impressive amount of internet hate for complaining that us Vita owners were abondoned by Sony while they've somehow found the resources to invest in VR.
Even though I'm bitter about it, I've never condemned them for it. It's also not like Nintendo stopped supporting their handheld (3ds) to focus on the Switch. The Wii U though? They practically stopped all efforts on that product immediately.
But you're right, I&...
Surprised by the downvotes. 3d kinda sucks. I played probably about 30 minutes with the 3d slider turned up on my 3ds in the last 5 years.
@Storm
Just trying to understand here...
So, because MS was stupid in the past, they can't do the right thing now?
Do you guys realize how dumb that sounds?
@S2killinit
Bought who early? Naughty Dog was purchased after being independent for 15+ years. Sucker Punch? 14 years.
That's on par with Obsidian and Ninja Theory.
I don't understand the weird efforts people go through to differentiate these companies. MS is taking a page out of Sony's book. It is a damn good book too, so good on them.
I think we should want more acquisitions over brand new startups anyw...
Pretty much. It's even more interesting that MS has marketing deals with half those games. They'll be paying ad dollars on games that will take attention from their own title. Bet they love that...
But they couldn't have delayed it again without being crucified for it. I'm glad they stuck with this game overall, but it was never going to be a big AAA "killer app" game. MS has known that all along. It should have been a lower risk title with a 2-3 y...
