The only thing that is dying is consoles, console backwards compatibility. The reason i say consoles are dying is because once they started having web browsers, firmware updates, HDD etc. they no longer are consoles but more or less the poor man's MAC.

I play games across 3 monitors at 1600p resolution, max settings and usually around 60fps (except for Metro 2033). Consoles can not do that so why would i want a console when they struggle with 720p on one screen.
I have no problem with GTAIV on PC. hell the mods alone make it worth while. Plenty of Hi-res graphics mods. Sure GTAIV had it's problems at first like any game but it wasn't nothing a crack and a mod-patch couldn't fix.

I don't see this as an absolute FAIL but more or less Game stop continuing to stay relevant in the video game industry.
Who's to say next Gen consoles won't be DD only with maybe only a small number of retail disc going to Exclusives stores. several publishers have already been on a witch hunt to take money out of Game stops pockets. DD is the wave and Game stop is getting on board.

3.5 million units sold sounds like any great console exclusive. Plus add another 2 million for a game which is actually DLC by todays standards but was full price back then and 5.5 million sounds pretty dam good from 2007 to 2009 the two years that made up the bulk of the sales.
