The switch is not going to be nowhere near as powerful as the Xbone/PS4. I don't think it's quite going to teach the levels of the PS3 either. Just consider it - it makes no sense. The PS4 consumes how much power? How long is that going to last on battery? Not long. OK, so what if it's docked? Well, notice how big the PS4 is? It's partly due to the size of the hardware, enough fans for active cooling and enough room for airflow. How big the Switch? Not nearly as big, is it? Wh...
You have to keep in mind that this is not a product that's going to replace the existing Xbone. It's going to be another product in the family. In that way, it makes sense (from a business perspective). Not every is going to buy the premium model, no, but for those people, they've got the mainstream model. With the two in common, they can drive business forward. Although I really don't agree on their decision. It shouldn't have to be old or nothing.

While I honestly really would like to replace the last-gen systems with the newer "new-gen" systems, it's just not happening at this price. So I'm sorry, but those systems are going to have to stay around for a while yet until Microsoft and Sony understands that the new machines are still way too expensive*.

Well, this is an interesting one, isn't it? Disregarding the whole "this is a rumour" and assuming that we don't lose rights (e.g. we can still lend games, etc), then I absolutely say, yes, I would get it over a $500 discy version.
But then again, the world isn't perfect, so even if such a version were to be released, I would be hesitant depending on terms and such.

I disagree. Start pumping out high-quality titles for less money and in less time and it will be a win-win.
Graphics is nice, but it also takes a lot of time to make and a lot of money. Plus it makes the cost of the consoles sky-high.

Let's take this with a grain of salt, shall we? That is Nintendo we're talking about. They didn't even get rid of the friend codes for 3Ds, so I honestly doubt they're going to for Café.
Now do I think Nintendo will "outsource" the whole online network development. Doesn't sound like them.
This is not really a fair comparison as you can't see the 3D effects on the 3DS version.
Best bet: find it in your local store and try it on the real 3DS system. It's a trade-off between graphics and 3D effects.
Considering you can just return it and get a full refund and then buy it again later if you change your mind, I would say go for it :)
I don't think the Xbox 720 will come before 2013-2014 myself. I just hope Microsoft won't rush it again.

Looks more like a rant than a constructive article against buying the product. Fail.
That's just not possible because:
1) The GPU isn't powerful enough. This is a mobile GPU, not a desktop GPU.
2) Even if 1) was false, it's still not possible. Nintendo made a portable system which means compact and light, the opposite of what you would with a desktop system. Compact means no room for ventilation, and light means no fans. There's a limit to how much you can passively cool, which seems to be the case for the Switch.
