If you're buying the next graphics card after each release then you have no idea what you're doing. A 2 year old graphics card can outlast the ps4 in graphics processing.

Even then, the firmware updates are not driver updates, you cannot update the GPU in consoles. If you get screen tearing or any other annoying issue with graphics, you'll have to live with.
Take skyrim for the ps3, that game was crap but if that issue was on pc, you can rectify most of the issues with a good driver update on the graphics card.
Of course the lack of ram on the ps3 was also an issue, it could have helped.
I actually know about hardware more than you. But I am preaching to the wrong crowd. Afterall n4g is very pro-sony and even something that may be considered slighlty negative, people on here tend to want to mash the disagree or try to prove you wrong.
It's up to the developers, sure...but there's a thing called a bottleneck...you can probably try going at 60fps and it will lag ...you can't put that much power at a affordable price.

I think Microsoft will match the memory. In order for them to outperform the ps4, they would need to put a higher end gpu. The ps4 can only do 30fps at 1080p, so MS still has time to enhance the cpu and gpu to achieve 60fps.
I don't think MS will have THE games, with the exception of halo,forza and gears and maybe Alan wake... but that's not to say they can't match or surpass the ps4 in performance...there's still quite a bit of time.

You cannot update ram and gpu via updates, those are called dtivers to allow the 3D acceleration and fix any bugs.
There are no updates or any update than can magically update the gpu to that or greater of a gtx 680. This is like going back to the late 90's and asking people where to download ram.

Textures don't have much to do with disc size. Take crysis 1 on pc for example. By fanboys logic that game wouldn't even fit on a blu-ray disc. If everything was based on disc size then the ps3 wouldn't run anything. Textures get loaded on to the ram....

I'm going to be the first to admit, I've hacked my ps3 when the scene began in August. It was a fun ride no doubt about it, all those emulators on the comfort of your couch and gamepad. This is a very smart move on Sony's part. They aren't going to alienate their userbase by banning them instantly. They will offer them a chance to update and stay on psn as long as they remove any crap to do with the hack.
This is the right approach imo Microsoft wouldn't hesitate and even ban those who updated back to the original firmware, they have earned my respect. They really do need to release alot of features next update as they owe everyone that.
