How can something that replaces the current models fail? It's going to be the same price, think of it as a slim model, It replaced the fat model, same thing here with the exception it's clocked a bit faster for 4K.

Because PS3 deaths were uncommon, where as nearly every 360 console was affected by RROD, to the point where they had to replace it for free as they had a class action on their hands.
It's called saving face. Sony didn't need to as the number of ps3 failings were absolutely nothing compared to the earlier 360 models.
I have a launch day console, Guess how many times I've replaced it since then? None, the issue was with a faulty hdmi port which has plagued some of the ps4's that were won in a taco bell contest. If you had bothered looking at amazon, a lot of people gave it 1 star without even buying it.

I could go on, not only did the ps2 have a massive library, it had quality on top of that. OG xbox was known for Halo and that's it.
Fees were introduced with the original xbox, not 360. You're also acting like subscription models weren't a thing before. Ever heard of Eve Online? Or World of Warcraft?

That's not entirely wrong. How many parents refer to a game console as an Xbox. Similar to how everything was called Nintendo back in the day.
So Sony fans were making fun of Microsoft for trying to implement an always online console. But they're mostly okay with a fragmented console.

Are people really this stupid? The games will perform and look the same. It's 4k in video playback, to get a 4k gaming working, the GPU would need a massive upgrade, which would cost much more than it costs now.

I actually do have a ps4. Bloodborne was bore fest, couldn't even force myself to continue. TLOU was a ps3 game, so that really doesn't count or any other remaster. Everything decent is third party. The online infrastructure does suck.

PS+ offerings suck, the online infrastructure is terrible, the firmware updates are far in between and nothing to really talk about. They force you to buy content you already own if you want to play games you've owned digitally before through the ps3.

You do know you won't get updated visuals in games right? It's a slightly overclocked ps4 that can allow it to play 4k video, not 4k gaming.

The thing is. Nintendo is long overdue to get back to the top. SNES was Nintendo's best console to date. People crap on Nintendo for rehashing games, yet no one bats an eye for the constant remasters and forcing people to double dip on games they already own.
If Nintendo finally wakes up and opens up to the online community and keeps it free. I can see many swarming to Nintendo.
