I don't think PS5 is going to be a physical console. I believe it will be in the form of PSNow but with the ability to buy the games and stream them infinitely.
It's going to be cheaper for them and it's going to be available everywhere.
Imagine PSNow on an iOS or android. The amount they'll make on subs and software sales will be huge.

Install the firmware through safe mode. If you downloaded it onto a flash drive don't bother using it.
In safe mode, I believe it's option 3. Software update and pick to update through the internet. It will download and install the update in safe mode.
Safe mode has always been better for installing Firmware updates since the PS3.

I think The Last Guardian on the PS3 was not in their plans. They were too ambitious with the game and realized the PS3 was very limiting.
I'm betting it will come on the PS4, pissing off PS3 owners.
I'd rather they follow the path of the PS2 than PS3. PS3 had way too many different models. I'd rather they just keep it the way it is and roll out a slim model near the end of it's life cycle.

PSN is very poor in comparison to xbox live or even steam. You can tell right off the bat that Sony is a hardware company with not much expertise in the software side of things. While it's vice versa for Microsoft.
360 had a much more install base and it was rock solid during these huge updates.
Steam is stable as well.
Why this is an issue is due to the fact you need to pay for it on the ps4 and it's the same issues as the free ps3...
In about a year, you can play MKV files as well, DLNA implementation since Sony is too stubborn and greedy to do it.
Every single working emulator that exists on PC can be easily be ported, since it's based on X86.
XBMC will be a possibility.
Every single open source project available on PC and Linux can be ported.
It's not just about emulation and piracy...it's about having access to everything on a $400 console....

You clearly don't understand this exploit, this can compromise the system's kernel. It could eventually lead to something bigger. This webkit exploit is not aimed at the normal user, it's aimed at developers who can make something out of it for the end user.
If they can get access to the kernel with this exploit, they can dump it and look for a bigger exploit, maybe something like custom firmware.

Say what you want about xbox, Microsoft is doing a fine good job bringing out features people want in order to make amends.
Sony is basically laughing at us. You want MP3 playback? Ok, it's not system wide and it's through an app using only usb storage.
