That is why LBP is my favorite ps3 game despite the overwhelmingly childish feel.
I own a wii for that reason. Nintendo games are usually such high quality they alone justify the purchase. And they've gone wild this gen - I can't wait until Sin and Punishment 2.
"for Zelda or Metroid to Wii owners those two titles are hardcore Wii games."
Or metroid. Or punchout (beat mike tyson sometime). Or Sin and Punishment. Or Fire Emblem. Or wario. Did a hardcore gamer just overlook several nintendo hardcore franchises? The hardcore must not follow wii games...
The wii is explicitly geared towards lapsed gamers too, most of which are by definition not kids or "the elderly." And given the DS and wii succeeded ...
Good post but don't forget mature doesn't always mean mature players. I played the most violent bloody games of my life around 10 years old - Mortal Kombat, GTA, Postal and Resident Evil.
I hardly play those titles anymore. Now I play metroid, mario, and arcade shoot em ups almost exclusively, being bored to tears of games that use violence as a crutch for poor gameplay. There are good mature games but also quite a bit of trash.
"It might barely hit 1million sales, which is pretty good, but there's what, 50, 60million Wiis out there? Hardcore games on the PS3/360 were able to double that with half the consoles sold."
Those systems had:
-advertising for COD games
-COD games that weren't 2 year old ports
50 to 60 million wiis is important? There were twice that many ps2s and okami still sold better on the wii. That's why the sequel is coming to DS.
...
Only morons on a gaming site could consider people who wanted sequels to punchout, mario kart, or 2d mario as anything but mature. Just from the fact we played the originals you can easily gather we're older and have played longer than most other people.
COD MW reflex is selling like the others btw and looks to easily hit 1m+ with NO ADVERTISING as a YEAR OLD PORT. NMH2 comes out this month, so does Sin and Punishment 2 and TvC. Then Monster Hunter Tri. This site is a joke as...
I loved TC4 in the arcade but hated the guncon 3. No recoil? That was why I played time crisis!
I actually like rail shooters but the RE chronicles series sucks hard. HOTD 2 blows it apart in every way. It's designed as FPS lite cinematic junk when rail shooters should be twitch fests. The most story I want in one includes zombies and evil corporations or terrorists and super weapons.
Capcom thinks they know a genre when really they ignored why people liked ...
"8.2 - If it were just this game, your rebuttle might have a leg to stand on but it's NOT just this game
It's nearly every single hardcore game that has been attempted 3rd partywise on the Wii."
How's COD doing? All of them. How are they? 1mil+ and heading that way for MW?
How's NMH doing? You know, Suda's best selling game ever that outsold killer 7 on ps2?
Didn't okami sell more on wii than ps2? Oh yeah, that's why they're making a...
Yeah, Sega has been eating it till possibly bayonetta. And once you include Mario and Sonic those numbers become even more hilarious ;) It alone outsold their xbox and ps3 releases combined!
"And Nintendo with the N64 also grew complacent. In the end Nintendo will have to either begin to innovate further"
That's their strategy so it seems like all's well. You notice how both the DS and the wii did that? It's like some sort of pattern.
Last I heard console manufacturers don't advertise for third parties. Nor it is their job. If companies weren't morons they'd take the 10 dollars savings in licensing costs for the wii and use that for ads.
Oh yeah, and we all know that rail shooters are highly sought after by hardcore gamers. That's why arcades are doing so well.
About those HD releases...
"Monster Hunter Tri, known in Japan as Monster Hunter 3 (tri-), is the third console installment in the Monster Hunter franchise, released for the Wii on August 1, 2009 by Capcom. Early in development, the game was planned to be a PlayStation 3 title; however, extreme budget costs caused development to focus on the Wii instead.[1]"
Oh yeah, hdtvs don't work with rail shooters without sensors. So that's what, 80 bucks for this gam...
"is definitely the perfect choice, why waste your time developing your game on a gamecube+ that does make your game look bad and outdated plus bad sales??,heh lol gamecube was even better resi4 looked amazing at its time plus it sold 100 times better, the wii is a waste of time and money, the wii is weak, it's a joke to be honest"
So's your grammar but we let you slide for months.
The wii isn't a waste of money...just look at this from wikipedia.
...
I got my wii used in perfect condition with 100 dollars of wiiware and vc games installed. Since they rarely fail they're great deals. I mean the pawn shops have them for like 160-170...my wii was 200 last summer. If you can test a system in store and find out what it comes with this is an excellent way to save cash.
The Conduit resulted in COD having to respond to the control scheme, so they did something right. I loved the game.
I saw your avatar and I imagined megaman saying this, a grave expression on his face as he waved his blaster for emphasis.
"if Nintendo doesn't bother with hardcore gamers like me, why should i with them? I am going to get around to play it, but not in awhile."
Uh...isn't that what they did with NSMB?
Man you're worse than my ex. "If he doesn't wanna talk to me right now FINE, I'll find something better to do." Hardcore gamers - reminding grown men of crazy ex-girlfriends since 2006.
Seriously, one ps3 game and a canceled contract destroyed factor 5 and they had loads of successful previous nintendo development. Meanwhile NMH sells 400-500k copies and it earns a sequel. The wii lets people take chances that would destroy a HD studio. The odd games that result are why I love the system.
lol, I came here to make this exact joke.
"Could someone explain to me on what merits NSMB deserves GOTY?"
Fun? Does that even count anymore or is it too hard to put a number on?
