Obviously, if you can't tell the difference, then it shouldn't matter to you. There are plenty of us out there that can actually see a difference, which becomes more evident as screen sizes increase.

That is a tired, uninformed, inaccurate, and overblown argument. Why do you keep comparing the the 60GB PS3 price when the $500 20GB model (which includes HDMI) will play all the games listed here equally well. How much is a 360 with HDMI and HDD?

My PS3 is currently crunching at .08 seconds per frame.
My "GenuineIntel Family 15 Model 4 3.0 GHz Stepping 1 (2 CPUs)dual-processor" PC is crunching at 17 seconds per frame.
That's 212 times faster...
I'm noticing that not every WU is the same, so calculation intensity will vary and more information is needed, but I'll say this much, the first WU on my PS3 was calculating at .0417 so....

You have to treat gaming as a hobby. It is NOT a life priority (always keep that in mind), but it IS a viable outlet for time, collecting and entertainment... aka "hobby". Consoles have ALWAYS been expensive, and gaming has always come at a cost. I used to mow lawns on Saturdays and use the money to buy games for the Atari 2600. One thing that gaming has taught me is, if you need more money for this hobby (and it doesn't come cheap) is that's as good an incentive to study harder...

Nobody ever factors inflation into the price of a console, and when done, some of the most successful consoles in 30 years of gaming history have cost at or near $600.

God forbid you put something research related on a networked console. I suppose you have to get permission from the gaming community cynics to use the next gen consoles to expand computer/programming theory. Funny, I don't remember these fools complaining about something so silly when the SETI research labs did this very thing with networked PC's across the globe.
Just because it's a game machine doesn't mean that if something "non" game is released it diminishes the games for the console already. There is no less focus on gaming (and the profit therein) as a result of this interesting, informative and free download.
