in DMC the camera is pretty much on rails. Rail'd cameras are a mixed bag, but with the right game, (think God of War 2) it adds dramatic directing and free's up processing (at the expense of limitless exploration.)
...why not shoot for a 4p game, that's right, 2 X 2 pixels and go to town with all the objects you can cram in there!
