Microsoft "Won" E3. So whats the prize?

In any case, I agree that the Sony press conference was terrible,and I hope they don't repeat that format for a conference ever again. The problem is that Sony have PSX which is becoming their primary stage for big announcements, so it makes sense for them to leave some big hitters until then.

Unfortunately that was my sentiment. The guy obviously doesn't even know the layout of a Playstation controller, heck Sid if you don't know where the "R2" button is by now, then maybe it's time to get another job, because you obviously don't know the first thing about the Playstation.

Not true. It was marred by the guy behind the controller. For goodness sakes at one point he just turns and starts running in the opposite direction until the devs have to tell him - "erhm.. the enemies are the other way."
In other words, the demo is supposed to be showcasing the players engagement with the zombie horde, and Sid was failing to even ride the motorbike, let alone use the massive machine gun strapped to his back - which he was obviously supposed to showcase. ...

Sid is absolutely terrible at this game. It's so obvious that he's just not a gamer. Even the devs where trying to give him hints, but he just kept butchering the whole thing.

Well, isn't that a strange contradiction. When you can win a gaming expo, without having the best games. I guess it's testament to just how much Sony dropped the ball this E3. The games were great, but please Sony, just put on a normal conference - with your big game trailers, and the devs coming up on stage to share the details of those games. It wasn't too much to ask. Instead of what we got, which was a disjointed and technical mess.

It is presumptive to think that these games won;t release until 2020... well, granted, Death Stranding might not release until 2020, but there're no reason we won't see TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima in 2019.

E3 isn't over yet and we might still get a release date before it's all over at the developer session on Wednesday

Too right. The acquisition of Ninja Theory?! Did anyone see that coming? I thought Tameem Antonaides was waxing lyrical about how they enjoyed their independence etc etc. I guess when a truck load of cash wakes you up in the morning...

I only tuned in to see BFV and Anthem, and I have to say I expected to see more. I think a D rating is a bit harsh though. I'd go with a C overall

You're right, if speaking about the financial year. I think it breaks down like this, (but please correct me if I'm wrong)

Q1 = Apr 1st -> Jun 30th
Q2 = July 1st -> Sept 31st
Q3 = Oct 1st -> Dec 31st
Q4 = Jan 1st -> Mar 31st

Touche! Well put, I like it.

You're right ofcourse. I personally believe that Kojima leaving Konami and setting up his own studio is the best thing that happened to him. As much as I loved the MGS franchise, we can finally see what else Kojima's creative genius can conjure up, now that he's not forced to churn out MGS games.

I think publishers are beginning to catch on to the fact that releasing their games in Q1 is profitable, as games can enjoy advertising space. I just hope Q1 doesn't become the new 'holiday season'.

Edit: Days Gone, Crackdown 3, and now Anthem all releasing in the same month, will be very interesting to watch.

The Order was a good game, the primary criticism was that it was a linear 4hr game charged at full price. If the game had been 12hrs long, it wouldn't have received anywhere near the same criticism.

At this point, we know very little about Ghost of Tsushima, but if Sony are doing a deep dive on it, it means that they have alot of confidence in it.

Brilliantly funny video, which may actual just have a point.

A wise man once asked me what was the difference between a river and a swamp?

A river has banks which help channel the movement and flow of water; it is this movement and flow that brings life.
A swamp on the other hand, has no banks to direct the flow of water, and as a result it overflows and stagnates.

Forgive the metaphor, but I do hope that Sony are still able t...

Nintendo are great, but they've always had this stance that they are not competing directly with Sony and MS. I think they know that people generally pick one console between Playstation and Xbox, and then they get a second console which is likely a Nintendo console of some sort.

But yeah, I really don't think Sony have anything to worry about from Nintendo.

I think at this point it's Sony's E3 to lose. But yeah, don't get your hopes up for TLOU2 releasing this year.

I don't think that Naughty Dog are capable of messing up, at least they haven't yet given us cause to doubt them.

That's the only reason why I think TLOU2 might possibly maybe release this year, so that Ghost of Tsushima will have the spotlight in 2019. Although I really don't think Death Stranding will be released next year, it's just way too soon. I don't think Kojima can develop a game in 3 years lol.

Nothing there that really excites me, unless they announce Crash Team Racing. That would be cool.

Unfortunately we know all too well what happens when companies rest on their laurels, and take their user base for granted. They get lazy and complacent, and that's when they start loosing the plot.

Hopefully, although Sony are in a strong position going into E3, hopefully they don't go into "cruise control" mode. I still want to see surprises, and I still want to see innovation, new game announcements and a strong gamer-centric approach.

I would love for TLOU2 to release this year, but I really don't want to get my hopes us. To be fair it has been 5 years since TLOU, and even if they took a year for conceptualising TLOU2, it would still leave 4 years of full development; which is enough time to get the game done.

I guess we'll all know next week at E3
