I think they are loading up to go out with a BANG in 2019 and announce PS5 during PSX of that year. E3 2019 you'll have headline games like Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding, TLOU2, Dreams etc etc, Then for PSX 2019 they'll basically have a PS5 showcase, with a possible release date of late 2020.

Good article, if not entirely fair to Spider-man. Spider-man is fundamentally different, in that you are not primarily walking (or driving) around the city. You are mostly above the city streets literally swinging from the roof-tops, but even here, there are enough landmarks that you can pick out and use to navigate around town.
Saying that though, I have to give R* major props for GTA3. It completely blew me away when it released, there was nothing like it, and I remember ...
That would be a real statement of how massive the game is. Although tbh, they could still ship what they can on one disc and you download the rest upon installation. We all know there will still be a day one download/patch anyway.
I think when you say "Story driven games" that description is way too broad. Even if you say story driven adventure games. For example The Witcher 3 did great things for story driven 'adventure' games, so did Detroit Become Human. In fact there have been a number of developers from Bioware (Mass Effect etc), Super Massive (Until Dawn), Quantic Dream (Detroit), to indie devs like Night School (Oxen Free) who have, and will continue to contribute and push the "story drive...
Exactly^^
If Detroit Become Human was made by any other studio -say an indie dev, it would have been lauded as one of the great story based games of the generation.
That looks even better than I imagined it, it's great that they've built a whole singleplayer campaign for it.
I can't wait. Been looking forward to this since it was announced. I can't get enough of the Witcher.

That is categorically false. Please read the article before commenting. Capcom confirm in the article that this game is specifically built around microtransactions. They even detail how they decided what skills would be cheaper and what skills would be more expensive.

Pay extra money through microtransactions to save time playing your game? I have an even better idea, I'll just save even more time by not buying the game in the first place, and have the added bonus of not spending any money on your game.

This practice really has to stop. We don't believe the lies anymore.
Yeah, I'll pass on the game entirely. Since they have built the game from the ground up with microtransactions in mind, it means the gameplay will be deliberately skewed towards it. You will inevitable get some sections that will deliberately be harder, or require more orbs than you would ordinarily get from just playing the game. In other words, the game is designed to screw you over so you end up giving in and purchasing the microtransactions just to progress.

It's just not right that they would contract new people to come in and finish the game - when the previous employees got the sack with no severance pay. They need to first pay their (ex)employees, and then refund everyone that bought a season pass for this game. Then they can shut their doors and go home.
This is one of my greatest gaming fears. That TLOU2 will not be able to live up to TLOU. I don't doubt that ND will craft a masterpiece, I just don't know how to contain my hype levels for the game - they're beyond stratospheric at this point.
I'm pretty sure it's the same kind of reason why Valve won't ever release HL3. It just can't live up to it's own hype anymore.
The whole situation sucks. It seems like the video game industry need unions (if it doesn't have them already). I'm sure even the US will have laws against exploitation. You can't fire people without severance and then pay a different set of people to come and finish the job.
On the other hand, from consumer point of view - this is why you should never buy a season pass. In other words don't pay for a promise. They may not be able to deliver and you won...
The collision detection with interactive objects, as well as the hit detection in melee combat definitely needs work. I hope they use the next 4 months to iron those out. However all-in-all, I'm stoked for this game. It's got all the key ingredients I love in a game - branching narrative, open world, crafting, survival, hordes of enemies etc etc...
I'm not a biker though.. so I don't know if I can relate to that... meh... who am I kidding, I'm getting th...
Well it's paid off for Sony. I think they learned their lesson from last gen that you need to spend big money on advertising for your product to do really well.
Well we know it's a 2019 window. So that's a start.
It sounds like it was a case of gross mismanagement and an unhealthy toxic work environment more than anything else.
Thanks for that link. I can't understand why TT games would even require crunch. I mean the games are not very demanding from a technical point of view. What would have happened if they decided to make a full open world RPG then? But what do I know abut game development.
Yup, they got comfortable with a one-trick-pony, and that bubble burst. They should have diversified their portfolio sooner.
I really wish this game wasn't releasing day and date with Days Gone AND Anthem. I simply can't play three games at the same time, which one to get first?
