Very good article. I completely agree with the author. TLoU is excellent because the infected are not the focus of the story. It's all about the sub plot and the relationships between the characters. Joel and Tess, Joel and Tommy, Joel and Ellie. But also Ellie and Tess, Ellie and Bill, Ellie and David. Excellent characterisation throughout. This helped to ground the characters more than in any other game. I don't know anyone who did not feel a pang of guilt the first time Ellie got b...
How are we as gamers going to change this "day 1 dlc" bull crap that devs are forcing on us. TBT if it is day 1 dlc, then it's cut content from the game, because the content was ready when the game was ready. To make matters worse is the timed exclusive bullcrap.
Here's hoping that next gen this sort of practice will be a thing of the past (it's a faint hope).
BRING BACK VAAS!!!!!!
Dude, it's very easy to miss a heart condition. People grow up all the time with a hole in their heart, without knowing it until a crisis event in their lives triggers further investigation. It is not uncommon for people in their 20's and 30's to have heart attacks either.
Condolences to the guys family. No mar on gaming though.
My all time favorite is death by Bloater! That guy literally rips your head off. Second all time favorite is anytime David gets Ellie with his machete, or when he strangles her. It's so sudden and brutal, it always make me wince.
love the last one... death by bush. Made me laugh. :}
Great game.
ND indeed thrive on pressure. Now Imagine if TLoU 2, will be to TLoU, what Uncharted 2 was to Uncharted.
O M G !!!
The leap between Uncharted and Uncharted 2 was so signifacant, it made Uncharted look like a last gen (PS2) game. If ND can again pull that off with TLoU 2, especially with the power of the PS4 (I can't see them doing anymore with the PS3 this gen beyond new DLC), it could completely revolutionize the game/movie divide.
Yeah I get that and all, but lets be honest. This is the games industry, and given the critica success of TLoU, I'm sure Sony will already be cashing the cheques for TLoU 2.
ND should make a sequel but with differetn characters. There's enough back story there with the war between the Fireflies, the military and the hunters to make an interesting sequel, that does not need to centre around Joel and Ellie. ND will just have to maintain the excellent characterisation....
I definitely agree. But I hope gamers and the gaming media don't get bogged down in sales numbers. It only serves to mar the greatness of games, if they are judged in sales numbers.
Yes I hope TLoU keeps selling well into the PS4 launch, but even if it doesn't beat game X or Y sales record, let that not be a barrier for anybody to go out a pick up the game. It is an excellent experience.
Hey Ezz2013, how's things down in Egypt? I hear there's unrest after the military outed Morsi. Keep yourself safe out there, and keep on gaming :)
True, I've always loved the design of the Helghast, I think they're my favourite bad guys. Here's hoping GG will wt us play as the Helghast for once :)
You obviously didn't read the article. It tells you why, and I agree with them. That's the way it should be done.
But if you haven't read the article then you still don't know what I'm going on about.
N4GFTW!!!
One of the very few games that I actually listen to the sound track. I just leave it on on the quiet Sunday afternoons. It quite awesome to just chill to.
Playing Flashback (and Fade to Black) is definitely one of the favorite gaming experiences of my childhood. Will this remake recapture the nostalgia, I hope it does, but sometimes nostalgia is it's own worst enemy.
It might be because activision may now hold the rights to Spyro with the skylanders toy franchise.
The articel completely missappropriates what a "Citizen Kane" moment is. It simply is an artistic medium (in that case cinema), which did something that was artistically revolutionary for the medium at that time. Being able to access that medium 70 years later has absolutely no bearing on the impact the artistry had in it's time.
In the same way, games like Doom, Metal Gear Solid, or Half Life, just to name a few, are all "Citizen Kane" moments in gami...
The problem is, the "Rambo" game has already been done, and much better, a hundred times over... just look at Crysis, FarCry, heck even the new Tomb Raider reboot. This game is already old before it is even released.
Vagrant Story was such an excellent game on the PS1, man that game kept me up on many nights. I just don't know why squeenix never made a sequel, or a reboot.
I'm getting this with my PS4 bundle :D
COD4 was definatly the high point for the series. Black ops came close as well though.
But will it be better than Bordelands, Fallout 3, Farcry 3, or even Rage? Mad Max is a little bit late to its own post-apocalyptic party.
