But what about those early adopters who have bought the Kinect XbOne SKU? It means they bought the more expensive, but less powerful version.

Exacltly. It gets worse though as now Microsoft are saying that without Kinect, the new XbOne SKU will have more GPU power etc. Effectively they are saying that the early adopters will be left with the less powerful SKU. Worse still if devs start developing for the new specs, will their games perform worse on the old Kinect SKU. I'm not sure Microsoft have really thought this one out properly.

They have basically relaunched the console, from what it was originally designe...

Not really old news. Yes Microsoft are looking to optimise their hardware. But now that Kinect has been unbundled, it should really free up the GPU etc. However, it then puts them on a difficult position regarding their bundled SKU.

Especially if it turns out that the unbundled SKU will become "more powerful" because of the removal of Kinect. If this is the case then it means that the early adopters really did get screwed over.

Well pound for pound, price for price the PlayStation4 is still better piece of hardware. That's just a fact, it has a better spec sheet. However we know that value to a gamer is more than just the tech sheet.

With the "resolution gate" controversies raging on, it will undoubtedly be a point of issue when it comes down to multiplatform software. But it is the exclusive games that will be the deciding factor this gen more than last.

It just goes to show that either their market research was a false positive, or their original vision for the XbOne evidenced a disconnect from their audience, the gamers.

It is good that they have finally unbundled Kinect, but it now runs the real risk of becoming redundant. In the next 12 months, it is likely that Microsoft will sell more unbundled units, than bundled units. It's whole vision for the XbOne Kinect experience effectively goes out the window. Sure now they...

You do know that it was Sony that came up with that tag line last gen right? And they were proved right. They haven't forgotten that it's not a sprint, but they sure have the lead at the moment.

It just shows that Microsoft had the wrong vision to start with. Nearly everything about their XbOne reveal last year has changed. Gamers will say "they are listening to their fans". Do you guys know how much market research companies like Microsoft do before they launch a product?

The Xbone has now lost the one feature that made it unique. I bet any money that Microsoft will eventually sell more Kinectless sku's than Kinect sku's. In the end developer suppo...

That's the problem when you're developing for 6 platforms simultaneously. If Watchdogs had only been developed for next-gen platforms, I believe they would have been able to concentrate more resources into the game and would have been able to make it much better.

I agree to a point. The thing is with next gen consoles you at least expect next-gen benchmarks in graphics. 720p and 900p were last gen benchmarks for games. We 'rightly' expect these new consoles to be at least able to hit 1080p 60fps. Regardless of the gameplay mechanics etc etc

I completely agree that these 'next-gen' consoles should be capable of pushing much more than the last gen consoles. However, you can't deny that watchdogs looks really good visually. You can't really comment on story or gameplay, especially mission design, if you haven't played the game though.

I agree, early adopters know what they're getting into. They are to die-hards who just want to machine day1. I don't think they are the one who are now having buyers remorse. I think it's the people who never really wanted Kinect in the first place, who are feeling bummed out. I guess those guys could always trade their XbOne in for the kinectless SKU?!?

The consoles have only been out for 6 months, less in some territories. How can anything be "too little too late" for either company at this stage in the console life cycle.

Before we roll out the doom and gloom articles, can we all just wait for E3, and see the games that will be announced. In fact can we wait for the console to be out at least a year first!

I think there will be lots of game announcements at E3, don't worry.

I remember trying to find the last blast shard in the first Infamous. No word of a lie, I spent more time trying to find that last blast shard, than I did completing the campaign. I was literally pulling my hair out with frustration.

But... I eventually found it and got my platinum trophy... and felt like a Boss!!!

@Lukas,

Whats the deal with wanting it to be unlocked at 60FPS. Surely having it locked down prevents stuttering frames rates during gameplay. If Ubi have managed to get the game running 1080p 60fps, then why lave it unlocked just so the frame rate can dip. What am I missing here?

@Volkman
If Ubisoft have got the game running at 1080p 60fps, how is that a loss in visual fidelity? Again what am I missing here, isn't 1080p 60fps the 'holy grail...

I wonder if it will involve the Reapers? I mean if it is a prequel, then the Reapers will still be in dark space waiting for the next cycle, right?

If it is set during the first contact war, then you won't have a variety of races to choose from really. I presume you'd only have humans, and maybe Turians.

Nah, I think it's best to just set the game after the events of ME3. It doesn't have to follow any of the same characters from the previous g...

Yeah, I'm actually playing through Witcher and Witcher 2 Enhanced Editions, in anticipation of this game. I guess the delay was good for me in that I can catch up on the story.

The concern I have with GG's RPG is that it is rumoured to be a F2P title. I's rather they just released a full title, than go down the F2P microtransaction road.
