For those getting next-gen consoles, the launch line-up of next-gen games that are available on day one is increadibly important. I'm not going to buy a next-gen console when all there is to play is last-gen games. This is why for me Sony has the edge - you get to experience a few next gen games with a next gen controller.
However I do agree with Phil that holiday 2021 will be just as significant (if not more) for console sales, as by then (hopefully) there won't be...
I choose Playstation5.
For me it came down to three primary reasons.
1. Next Gen controller that adds a new layer of player experience.
2. Quality exclusives and upcoming sequels (that free PS+ games collection is pure gold).
3. I only have enough time and money for one next gen console (I already have a gaming PC).
Yeah, but when's the next wave happening?
Yeah, they wanted to represent Miyazaki's original vision and didn't want to add anything that wasn't Kosher the original game.
While I understand that, I think it would have been a massive bonus selling point for those of us who spent hours in the original PS3 version.
"If you can find one..."
Yep, that's the problem - you can't find a PS5 for love nor money.
Lots of Xbox Series X everyhere though.
But yeah, I'll still wait...
What's the moral of this story?
When you design a game primarily to be built on microtransactions, it doesn't matter what coating of paint you put on it - if there isn't a base game that is deeo and satisfying and that stands on it's own, then your game will fail.
Gamers have so much choice, and limited time and money. They want a quality gaming experience, not GaaS shovelware.
Thankfully history repeats itself. Hopeful...
I started playing it in Japanese, but then the incidental dialogue and some other dialogue didn't get subtitled, and it botherd me no end. Eventually I have to revert to english, just so I knew I wasn't missing anything.
They are both great games, but Ghost of Tsushima is the delinite must buy if you have'nt played it yet.
🤣
IAE 2050???
Is that the release date?
This game got way too much flak when it released. It's much better it's given credit for, and it's gret that Sony has added it their Playstation Collection.
WOW! Vey high praise from EuroGamer. Shame the PS4 version is stretching the console to it's limit, but still a must have game even on PS4.
Now imagine that gameplay with the nuance of haptic feedback of the Dualsence controller.
Did they finally get rid of microtransactions? In my book tha's the worst thing about (current gen) gaming.
Backwrd compatibility is nice, to be fair. But it's really not as bad as microtransactions. Please fix that while you're at it.
Kthanksbye!
It just reminded me how much I love God of War, especially that ending. The first time I experienced it I was like daaaayummmmnnn!!!!
Yeah, I can't wait for Ragnarok, if God of war 3 is anything to go by, then the Norse-lands are about to get torn up...
Or has Kratos finally met his match?
Dude how much you shelling out on day1 😎
Ignore the haters, the truth is Sony has a great launch line up, and ppl try to down play it by referencing both consoles together.
Even if we go by the back catalogue, the fact that you get the Playstation Collection when you subscribe to PS+ on PS5 is a steal. It's not about the quantity, but more about the quality of the games you get with that.
I love the SoulsBourne series, and the ony one I haven't played is Dark Souls II. Sekiro has a very special place in my heart though. I'd probably rate it in the top 3 actually, they managed to make it really unique and fresh.
I can't wait for Elden Ring to see what From Software do with that.
You're right about Skyrim, I missed that. I guess 5th place can be tied between GTV and Skyrim :)
It definitley sits up there with the best of them.
My top 5 open world games this Gen would be:
5. Skyrim
4. Ghost of Tsushima
3. Horizon Zero Dawn
2. Red Dead Redemption 2
1. The Witcher 3
Honourable mention would have to got to GTAV, becasue it came out last gen. But yeah, it's still the benchmark.
I'm sure Sony will publish their numbers, they've already talked about selling more PS5's in the first 12hrs on sale, than they did for PS4's in it's first 12 weeks on sale.
