I agree, it is all about socializing. In fact, I was only in the beta for about 30 mins when I realized I finally had a real reason to go out and buy a headset. Actually, this just solidifies my decision after playing LBP online and hearing about the the Age of Booty being much better with headsets.
A friend of mine put his headset on in Home and was talking to me, and lame, cheap me...I had to type out stuff using the DS3. Its really painful. makes me wish Sony bundled a h...
Hey, I mentioned this in my previous post, but I wanted to respond to what you said: "also the word is that the PS3 will probably get this service next year..."
This may or may not be true (I really don't know), but if you want, there's a 3rd party piece of software that allows you to stream Netflix, Hulu, CBS, Youtube, and ESPN direct through your PS3. Actually, it's also compatable with the 360 and a couple other devices as well.
They have a 14 day trial...
I think that the netflix feature is best suited to people who already subscribe to netflix and simply put, want to "get more for their money."
Netflix gives subscribers unlimited online viewing, but I never took advantage of it because I HATE watching movies on my PC. But, ever since I had a way to stream the movies direct to my big screen HDTV (actually, I get my netflix streamed though my PS3 using a 3rd party program called "Playon," which also works for 3...
The most important part of that article is as follows: "In my personal opinion..."
It's an opinion piece, as these silly console war articles usually are. The reason I make note of this point is because when people who are not journalists write articles based on "their opinion," it usually means they didn't bother to do any real research. It also usually means the article is heavily biased.
I should note I'm a PS3 owner, so I'm not saying this t...
If you got it at Amazon, you might want to check with customer service to see if they'll refund the difference. They sometimes do that kind of stuff when prices drop within a certain number of days since your purchase.
I like zombies...
That's too bad. I always welcome zombie games. Even bad ones are fun for a little while.
They sent my code like three days ago, and I've been enjoying it. I'm not an annual subscriber; I only bought the one episode. I know they let us in a bit later than others because we only bought the one episode, but I generally don't play much anyway.
Or does it seem like there's a lot of Sony Hate going around N4G today. Just one glance at the news stories for PS3 revealed at least 3 negative articles.
I downloaded that Playon thing last night (didn't know about it before this article), and besides having a bit of trouble getting it to work at first, it's pretty cool.
I found a whole giant cache of Twilight Zone episodes on the CBS feed. That alone made the download worthwhile.
Is it true that we'll be able to view netflix online on the PS3 through this program, or is that just the 360?
There's nothing for it to win. It's already more prevalent than any of those audio mediums that tried to beat out the CD. And as I mentioned in (at least one of) my posts, I expect both blu ray and DVD to continue to coexist. Blu ray won't "kill" dvd, just like Direct Download won't kill Blu ray.
As HD TV's become the norm, more people will be getting upconverting DVD players and Blu ray players. The coming holiday season should show a surge in buyers, and when the ...
because I don't really agree with the article, yet I sort of agree with you. :-)
What I mean is this: I don't think blu is going to die any time soon. Yet, at the same time, I have purchased zero (as in 0) bluray disks. I rent them through netflix, but i don't purchase them.
Also, I am never going to rebuy the dvd's I currently own. I own the movie, my ps3 upconverts the dvd, so why spend money I don't have to, right?
But, at the same time, if I wan...
Exactly. Just what I said.
I mean, let's think about this for a second. When people talk about bluray and direct downloads, they always reference the rise of MP3's and itunes. But wait! CD's are still being sold, and it's been how long now? And there's no sign of CD's being completely phased out, right?
So why in the world would anyone think that only one medium would exist at any one time? There have always been multiple mediums coexisting, from records and ...
These types of articles are pointless if you consider that most media formats will go out of style at some point. When people like this write articles, they are just grasping at straws. Really it's just an excuse to vent all their frustrations about bluray.
It's one thing if a format never catches on (like Lazer Disk). But once the public accepts a new format, it'll be a long time before they finally give up on it for another one. Which is part of the reason that DVD won't di...
they mean that the expanded closed beta is promised for the end of the month. Actually, I vaguely remember reading it was supposed to start August 26th, but that might have been one of the hundreds of rumors people have been spreading.
But anyway, they meant the closed beta. The open beta is in fact scheduled for sometime before the end of 2008.
Oh yeah, I totally disagree with the perfect 10 score. I'm not sure I ever played a game that I thought was perfect, but for my money, Uncharted came closer than GTA4.
And as for not having finished it yet (like I said, I haven't either), I think it was the story, like you said. It just wasn't engaging enough to make me want to play straight through.
But I enjoy the game enough that I will definitely be going back to it.
Yeah, my copy of GTA is just sitting there too. The thing is, I really enjoyed the game, but the story wasn't keeping me engaged. Other games (like UNcharted) sunk it's teeth in and would not let go until I finished the game.
But at the same time, GTA4 just isn't that type of game. it's the kind that you can take your time playing and going back to after a couple weeks playing something else.
Sort of like Oblivion. Because of all the side quests and free world ro...
tee hee.
It'd be funny if these were just regular players, and they turn on their PS3 to find the friend list full.
Out of curiosity, i added them. They have no trophies, but their profiles are filled out (in Japanese). And then i decided to add other characters like Nathan Drake and Lara Croft. None of them had trophies and their profiles didn't say anything, so I just deleted them.
Seems sort of silly.
Meus Renaissance, thank you. It needed to be said. Bubbles+++
