I sure hope so. That would be killer. I see no reason to leave out an offline co-op mode when they already have the online co-op in place, but the unfortunate truth of the matter is this generation of gamers/developers seem to value online much more than offline. I won't be surprised if there's no offline co-op.
The beta impressions are pretty spot on. I'm enjoying it quite a bit, but since I'm not a fan of online multiplayers, I'm looking forward more to the single player c...
I know you wrote that a while ago, but the score has since changed. It's now down to an 86 on metacritic.
And strangely enough, it has an 82 on metacritic for the 360 version.
Maybe I'm ignorant, but don't multiplats usually get the same score, or at least comparable? I've never actually taken notice before.
But I could swear that sackboy was plastered across nearly every video presentation that consisted game montages (for example, the opening vid, the PSP vid, and I think one other...)
"If you have a PS3 and don't play this game, you're dumb."
Right on.
My favorite game of this generation (thus far) is Uncharted. Uncharted's Metacritic score is an *88*!
Infamous's metacritic score (last I checked) was an 87.
Just because a game isn't universally loved, or doesn't get all 10's, does not mean it isn't a fantastic game. It just means that different people have different preferences/opinions. Reviews are a *very* subjective thing...
And I appreciate that they don't try to assign an arbitrary number score.
Their first negative on the lists of "things they hated" is "Moral Confusion." But reading through the explanation, it sounds more like they were unhappy with the story's adaption to the different choices you make as Cole.
Their second negative is one I happen to agree with, to a point. (Cole climbing *down* walls). But if I remember from the demo, pressing "O"...
wow...way to compromise.
I never said you were *wrong.* All I said is that you're focusing on the negative. You said, "ALL i have seen are ps3 fans complaining and b1tching about this and any other site that hasn't given the game 9/10."
All *you have seen.* You're not looking hard enough. ;-)
Hey, i agree with you that it's annoying as hell when people complain over scores that aren't even that bad. I see where you're coming from. But it's not everyone doing it.
Really? Because I see a lot of people who are happy with all the scores, even the 7's (which isn't a bad score at all).
I'm not saying *no one* complains about low scores. I'm just saying it's a matter of perception. If you focus on the negatives, it's all you'll see.
I'm pretty excited for this game. After the whole "Sony last minute timed exclusive" thing, there seemed to be some unnecessary backlash directed at this title.
I hope everyone can see past that and judge the game on its own merits. As the article stated, having the original cast and writers create this story is a huge boon.
I'll have to wait for some reviews and/or a demo before deciding if I want to buy or rent, but either way, I *will* play it.
Some reviews say they didn't notice any pop in, others say there is very minor pop in, and a couple say the pop in is really bad.
I guess we'll find out soon...
Like I was saying in another thread, it all depends on how much the reviewer wants to nitpick.
*all* of the reviews agree on the pros and cons of the game, it's just that some reviews--ahem**eurogamer**ahem --really pick apart these tiny flaws and blow them out of proportion, while most reviews simply say, "yeah, there are cons, but the game is *fun!* And those few cons don't outweigh the pros."
I, of course, won't make a final verdict until I play the ful...
I read it. Although I agree that there is nothing special about the review (if you've read one, you've read 'em all), they *do* mention a couple of things that I didn't know from the demo (the reason Cole can't use guns, for example).
So, while I agree that it's best not to make a decision of whether or not to buy the game based solely on this review, I don't think they pretended to have played the game.
But as I alluded to a second ago, all of the reviews--be it a ...
I just finished playing the demo, and I have to agree with most of the reviews so far. It's a great game, but it does have some flaws. Playing the demo, I noticed the tendency for Cole to stick to ledges or buildings at time when i didn't mean for him to.
And after playing the demo through twice, I was a little bored with the few missions (but I did play them back to back, so it should be expected).
Anyway, overall it was a lot of fun. Looking forward to Tuesday. ...
I'm one of those 80's kids they're talking about. I've said from the beginning, I am looking forward to this game. I never went as far as saying it would be great, but I was certainly hoping it would be.
Now, once I read a couple reviews in English, I'll get a little more excited. :-)
Thanks for the replies, everyone. Agreed across the board. That's the problem i have with most reviews I read. I get a certain impression from the written article, and then i see the score, and 9 times out of 10, I can't figure out why they scored it the way they did.
I'll have to add Joystiq to my bookmarks.
I sort of like that they don't give an arbitrary score to their review (is this normal for Joystiq? I've never read a review there...)
They lay it out for you and let you make your decision based on what they *say.*
It's about time we got some good news. I gotta say, the articles here on N4G have made a marked change in the past couple months. I remember when coming here only meant reading a dozen anti-PS3/Sony articles.
I'll be picking up the DLC. Maybe I'll wait for the GOTY disc, but I'm not sure yet...
So basically because this guy had a system failure, it's suddenly newsworthy? Sounds to me like he was mad and needed a sounding board for his anger.
This stuff happens. It's why there are extended warranties. Yeah, it sucks when you're the one who ends up with a bricked system, but it only happens to a mere fraction of consumers. So...get over it.
That one video from gametrailers was all CGI...
Anyway, the game is multiplat. They sucked some more power out of the 360? Great! All I care about is that if this game does, in fact, turn out to be good, I'll at least get a chance to play it.
