Everyone says these numbers are inaccurate. Would these numbers be more "accurate" if the PS3 had globally outsold the 360? At this point who cares, just enjoy the rest of the generation.
Skyrim is the greatest game ever. Period.
It's MS's lack of studios and business philosophy that is to blame. They could easily afford to add more studios to the mix, but MS would rather buy timed 3rd party exclusives and rely on what it has, it seems.
It would do them well to invest in more studios because no franchise stays white-hot forever, including Halo and Gears of War. And hell, Gears doesn't even belong to MS.
I would agree with those who say "marketing". When Halo and Gears titles launch, it's a pop culture event largely do to marketing. Sony doesn't have that with any of their titles even though titles like God of War and Uncharted are just as good.
Hideo Kojima remembers Metal Gear Solid 4.
I remember it too.
I'm over a hundred hours in and not even close to being done. Will I finish it? Hell yeah, it's the greatest game of all time!
Wow, looks like someone is a bit naive. Sony is in it for the same reason as Microsoft. They both want their console to be the center of your home entertainment center for games, movies and other digital content, all in the name of...MONEY!!!
I think I'll do the same thing a I did this gen. I'll get the next Xbox when it's a bit newer and wait a little bit to grab a PS4. I will get both however, and don't give a crap about Nintendo. Being the father of a young child though, I'm sure there is a purchase of at least a DS in my future.
Uh yeah, that was total sarcasm, something a lot of people on n4g are too stupid to get.
In case anyone was wondering, Nintendogs Toy Poodle is now just $4.99. I've been waiting for this one. I'm going to put down Skyrim and put off other games I've been waiting to play like Portal 2, Uncharted 3, the new Gears of War DLC and Batman so that I can give Nintendogs Toy Poodle the full attention it deserves.
@Perdie...I think you're missing my point. It could apply to any exclusive title, Uncharted was just the first one to pop in my head, maybe because it's my favorite PS3 exclusive franchise.
I have not encountered any backwards-flying dragons on my PS3 version of Skyrim, however today I killed a dragon and I wasn't able to absorb his soul. Hopefully just a one time deal.
It's going to be torture, but I think for future Bethesda games, I'm going to wait a little while until most of the bugs have been corrected.
"Some Xbox 360 exclusive games could sell better if they benefited everyone by releasing as multi format titles."...Couldn't this be said about every game? Doesn't the person who wrote this think Uncharted would've sold boat loads more if it were on 360 too?
Gears and Halo are why many people have 360's. If Gears went to the PS3 that would seriously hurt them.
I usually don't spend too much since I get most games used or from friends unless they have the name "Halo" "Gears of War" or "Elder Scrolls" in the title, in which case I get them brand spanking new. I did buy myself a PS3 this year though so that brought my average up significantly.
I agree with the "hype wagon" comment. In fact for most widespread video game problems,I never seem to experience them. Maybe I'm lucky. My PS3 version works great and I have definitely played long enough to have these problems happen. I'm almost a level 40 character.
Especially if the game is story driven, it's important to give them a rest. Assassin's Creed is already suffering from overexposure. Although in an industry that's expensive to make your product, as well as risky...you can't blame the game companies for wanting to milk their cash cows. But then again, at what price? Overexposure could prove to be more costly in the end.
I haven't noticed any of the visuals being worse. Is this something that you noticed or is it something you read?
Did the update not work? I have the PS3 version, and it seems to be going OK. Maybe a little lag around Whiterun for a second or two, but nothing bad. I've been keeping an eye on my file sizes and they're actually going up and down now after the update, staying a little below the 6MB mark.
I can't wait to read the follow up article. They said they're playing multiple copies on multiple PS3's. I wonder if it affects all of them. I would hate to lose al...
They need to slightly modify the design so that your fingers naturally rest on the triggers, not L1 and R1. Also, of course, real triggers. If they did that, then the Xbox and PS3 would be on even par for shooters.
I like the responsive analog sticks of the current PS3 controller, and of course the PS3 controller has the absolute best D-Pad in the business.
People seem to get confused with that. It means the console will be supported for 10 years, not we have to wait 10 years for a new console. I don't think we'll be waiting for a full decade, but close to it.
Let's see, the 360 was out in late 2005 and the new one will probably be out next year or the year after, right? And I imagine the PS4 would most likely be around the same time so yeah, close to a full decade.
