Gaming is entertainment AND art. As are movies and music.
Ebert is a bitter old man who time has passed by. I don't know how anyone can say videogames aren't art. Most modern videogames require artistic design, sound effects, a well-written story, many have a deep plot, and voice-acting (with more and more being done by professional actors, BTW). Game writers/designers try to create an immersive experience, just as movie writers do. There is no debate, videogames ARE art, period.
I've seen some movies that I would ca...
While I agree that gamers complain way too much and many tend to nitpick about every little thing they find wrong in a game, it is justified to complain about a game company trying to nickel and dime you to death.
I'm not saying that Bioware is, and I'm enjoying the hell out of Mass Effect 3. I'm guessing that ME3 is a complete experience, and so far I think it deserves all of the high praise it is getting. Definitely an early Game of the Year candidate. There ...
Got to play the Vita for the first time today in GameStop. It's a cool, sleek little machine and the graphics are PS3-quality. I'm not a portable gaming enthusiast but I'd definitely consider getting the Vita.
What, you "people" disagree with me? How much you wanna bet that the PS4 has cross-game chat? ;-D
Sarcasm folks, sarcasm.
In other words, the PS4 will feature cross-game chat.
I'm a lefty and I could never play that way. Some games have the "southpaw" option in the control menu, I don't know if anyone actually uses it or not. Moving with the right joystick and operating the camera with the left would seem so foreign to me.
Only a select few franchises would really see those multiplayer dollars if you had to pay to unlock it. Halo, Gears, COD, possibly Uncharted and Killzone, along with fighting games (including WWE and UFC)and racing games, but that's about it.
@Kurt Russell - it's not greed. A lot of money goes into making those games, and so many people contribute in making them. A game has to make X amount of dollars to support them all, and not every game that comes out will be ...
All thedude44 said was that he likes to play Skyrim on his PS3 after a hard days work. And 5 of you disagreed with it. Why? Because he said PS3? Are people on this website really that petty?
Anyway, it's great for Sony and MS to have a third party game do this well on their consoles because it just reassures that they provide platforms that are conducive to the success of third party studios. I'll bet Nintendo wishes they could have half the third party success t...
It works great for me. I'm about 200 hours in and a level 59 character. My game saves are still 10 MB though but as long as there continues to be no lag, I'm happy.
Graphics are somewhat important because when you play video games, you are stepping into a virtual world. The better the graphics are, the more immersed in that world you will be. That being said though, graphics are the icing on the cake.
Gameplay and story are the two most important aspects to most games. A game with great gameplay and story but crappy graphics can still be considered a good game, however, a game with great graphics that has an awful gameplay and story e...
I'm about 178 hours in on my PS3. I get a little bit of lag in Whiterun and a couple of other places, but other than that it works great. Hopefully this patch will make it run smoothly 100% of the time.
Bottom line for me is that I feel compelled to play Skyrim longer in one sitting than any other game out there. Not to mention there is no other series that gives you the absolute freedom like the Elder Scrolls series. Skyrim deserves all of the accolades it gets.
No matter how great a game is, there's always room to do better next time (for Elder Scrolls: improve combat, deeper story, and don't release it until there are far less bugs on all versions!)
It might depend on the model of PS3 you have too. I have one of the newer ones and it works fine. It gets a little choppy in Whiterun but that's about it. Still can't wait for the 1.4 patch.
Maniac Mansion...3D with simultaneous co-op
Elder Scrolls VI
Do people really need to get that bent out of shape because of a video game? These are words coming from a CHARACTER in a VIDEO GAME. Maybe the character was religious and thought that it's not right to sleep with three different men in a month.
It's because of assholes like this along with lawyers and corporations that have knee jerk reactions and give in to people who are "offended" that forms of art and entertainment (i.e. movies, video games, radio ...
The Last Guardian looks amazing. There are always exceptions. Hideo Kojima and his TRUE Metal Gear games are an exception, not to sure about the upcoming one with Raiden. But looking at the sheer amount of crap out there from Japanese developers, I'd say yeah, they better adapt if they want to be successful in the west.
Culturally, Japan is stuck in the past. The only place in the world that a mullet is still fashionable is Japan among young males, for example.
As far as games go, the Japanese simply have different tastes than the western world and it shows in their games. The Japanese companies must learn to adapt or else be stuck in mediocrity.
The male gay love scene shouldn't be an option. I'm not offended by it because NOTHING offends me. I always support sources of entertainment creatively taking it to the line as much as possible, and sometimes even crossing it. But...was Shepard gay in ME 1 or 2? Doesn't make sense to have him be straight in the first and then all of a sudden he's gay in the third. If he started out gay in ME1 it would be perfectly fine. For continuity reasons it shouldn't have happen...
