Lara Croft is a T.R.I.L.F.
This year's VGA's or "VGX" was the video game equivalent to the Star Wars Christmas Special.
Either return them to the old format and treat the games like the pieces of art that they are, or do away with them altogether.
Price does factor into it, sure, but that's only one of several reasons. Sony has gained a reputation of being more consumer-friendly. They give away free games (and the games they give away aren't always games that are several years old and/or games no one wants anyway). They don't put all of their media apps behind a firewall. They gave away free online for a long time and are charging this gen in part because of the high maintenance/development costs for PSN. All of these ...
If Sony were arrogant they wouldn't have been concerned with getting their firmware update out within the first week to fix stability issues. They also wouldn't be willing to offer expedited shipping for faulty PS4s so that customers won't have to wait that long. Lastly, they wouldn't bother striking deals with game companies on a monthly basis so that they can give us games for free or at a greatly reduced cost (if you subscribe to Plus).
Arrogance is prete...
It's reasons like this why Sony rocks. Coming from a person who had to send in his 360 twice (once for a faulty disc drive, and once because my graphics card went bad) only to later have to replace it because it red ringed when out of warranty, it's nice to know that Sony isn't putting their fingers in their ears and their hands over their eyes with faulty units. And it's very nice to know they won't keep you waiting for over half a month!
One YouTube poster said, "I'm french, they say "Does the console feel hot?" in which they reply "No, must just be the game". Take it for what you will.
I'm sure both consoles have been thoroughly tested after MS's billion dollar RROD lesson.
It kinda helps when it's not enclosed in a plastic case with no ventilation. :-/
Resolution and FPS doesn't equal polygon count. Nintendo could re-release an old Nintendo 64 game where everything looked pointy at 1080P and 60FPS, and Capcom could release another 8-bit, 1080P, 60FPS Mega Man sequel. It doesn't mean that the respective games are pushing out cutting edge looking graphics with an obscene amount of polygons to the point where the graphics look photo-realistic.
No need to rush The Last of Us. I'd say every 3 years for a sequel is about right. Give people a chance to build anticipation and give the developers a chance to put together a masterpiece.
Eventually, one would hope at least, these kids will grow up one day and realize how stupid it is to get caught up in the console wars. It's perfectly acceptable for anyone of any age to not support a company because you don't like their policies or maybe you think they're always trying to nickel-and-dime you, but to stoop to that level because you like one console more than the other is stupid.
Is Kratos ripping Helios' head off in God of War 3 not "sadistic" enough for Sony?
Self-titled games should be able to play under the same rules, just make sure they're put through an approval process to make sure there's nothing in the games that crosses the line.
These debates are fun sometimes, but they do get old too. All this arguing when most games will look very close probably isn't worth it. The truth is, if the Xbox One is a little more powerful than the PS4 (doubt it), it's not going to make me want it more. I am choosing PS4 over the XB1 due to the games that appeal to me, the Instant Game Collection and all of the other little things that make up the whole experience. Will we see differences in some games, sure, but most will be ...
My reaction would be to wait until I get my PS4 of course. Any game that comes out for the current gen and next get like the new Assassin's Creed, MGS5, etc., I'll play on PS4 as opposed to my 360 or PS3. Might as well enjoy the best version.
100 hours? Wow, that's delving into Elder Scrolls territory.
The Instant Game Collection is another huge incentive to stick with PlayStation.
PSN will probably be as user friendly as Xbox Live this time around, judging from what we've seen from the PS4 UI. Unless you're concerned about Achievements or if all of your friends will be on Xbox Live, I'd get games for whichever console has the best version of each game, if you're getting both systems.
@Unholy_One... It's all a matter of opinion. I personally think Sony beats Microsoft in terms of both quantity and quality when it comes to Instant Games Collection vs. Games for Gold. On top of the free games given away, Sony gives incredible discounts to PS+ members.
@Mounce... "Wow, this is JUST LIKE Sony's Instant Game Collection." /s /s /s /s /s. There is that better? I included not one, but FIVE foward-slash s' instead of a frownie face to fully...
LOL, thanks @InTheLab... silly me, I thought the frownie face was enough to indicate sarcasm...
I hope not. It's the competition that makes both Sony and MS put out so much content and try to wow us each year at E3 and in the Christmas season. It's the competition that leads to free game programs like the Instant Game Collection and Games with Gold. If one went away, it would make things less exciting for the customer.
@minimur... ding ding, you are correct sir!
