1) Microsoft denied the issue for well over a year before taking any action.
2) The initial warranty was only 1 year.
3) Some people got tired of having repaired consoles die within months and thought they'd buy a new one in the hope the problem was rectified.
So there's three scenarios that answer your question.
Lol, you are obviously very stupid. Everything I said was true. I didn't pay a penny as it was still in warranty and England has strong consumer rights laws so it would be impossible for me to have paid anything, it would have been considered illegal to charge me.
I couldn't believe it when I got the replacement so quickly which is why I mentioned the season.

The worst voice in a game ever was in Graeme Souness Vector Soccer (on Amiga). When you scored, you would hear "yay goal" in the most depressed, monotonous and bored-sounding tone imaginable.
It's as if the developers had never heard of enthusiasm or celebration.

Not true at all. At first they denied the problem and the warranty was only 1 year. I know lots of people who bought a second 360 within 2 years of launch.
My friend bought a replacement when his died just after the warranty ended. He then had several warranty repairs which only lasted a few months, so he bought another new one (which also died). He ended up buying 3 of the 7 consoles he owned.

My launch PS3 had a YLOD the day after Christmas. I had a new replacement delivered to my door (for exchange) the day before New Years Eve, didn't cost me a penny and I didn't have to wait even 1 week.
I was most impressed (especially considering the time of year).

Fat (launch) PS3 had hardware bc and was 100% compatible. The software solution that followed the redesign was poor.
Unfortunately MS is going to have the same problems. There is no way they will have all titles working flawlessly whilst using software emulation.
Wii won the last generation? Well in sales figures maybe (although mobile gaming is as valid a "console" as the Wii was).
Wii almost killed off console gaming entirely by bypassing the fans in favour of a more numerous casual crowd, imagine what that would have done to the industry if the millions of casual fans had stayed on for the next generation. Non-stop party games released monthly on every system would have been inevitable.

Microsoft had pics of Killzone Shadowfall and DriveClub on their European site, claiming both as a reason to buy XBOne.
Also why would you knowingly use a game with inferior graphics to promote something as beautiful as DriveClub? Surely using Forza 5 pics would harm DriveClub sales massively.

It's a sad fact but whilst there are people who willingly except being manipulated in this way, we're just going to have to get used to being screwed by these companies.
It's probably worth losing a few fans as they know that a percentage of households will end up buying a second console for this game.

They generally drop detail levels when you engage the split screen mode, it has no effect on the graphics of the single screen game whatsoever.
