They don't see PC as a competitor and they aren't trying to catch up with Sony?
I suppose you can't lose if you move yourself out of the race, but it is an admission of defeat all the same.
You also have to take into account the geographical distribution of the consoles.
PS4 is a worldwide brand, X1 sells mainly in the US and UK. Without further research into the social habits of different regions, the statistics are meaningless.
They are STILL being outsold 2:1, I can't see where MS is doing so well.
Nobody would rather play WiiU, that's why it's been outsold by everyone in the business.
Bayonetta 2 wouldn't even get a mention if it were on a proper console, it stands out because it's the only half decent WiiU game that isn't designed for 8 year olds.
There's just a lot more PS4 gamers. Those that aren't committed gamers tend to buy the most popular console at the time.
Becoming? Where have you been?
When I studied filmmaking, I was told that the difference between art and craft is that art serves no other purpose than being art.
If it has a further purpose it ceases to be art.
A fine piece of furniture, no matter how intricate and beautiful, can never be art.
So the question is; do videogames serve a purpose other than to be looked at?
"But $600 is more expensive than other consoles at launch."
Not true, both the 3DO and the Neo Geo were $700 and $650 respectively. If you take inflation into account, you get many more topping that figure.
Even the Atari 2600 cost the equivalent of $796 ($200 at launch). Apple pippin was expensive and one or two consoles cost over $1000 when you apply inflation to the launch cost.
If it's bad on the PS4 it will be terrible on the weaker X1.
There are reviews, the game literally just came out.
3/5 stars on PS store user ratings.
Terrence McKenna had a theory that psychedelic mushrooms were sent to Earth by extra terrestrials as a kind of information or knowledge capsule.
He believed that mankind first came into existence when monkeys ate magic mushrooms and developed new and unique activity in the brain.
If he's correct, the aliens could send us zombie mushrooms too.
But as the fungus that controls the minds of ants exists, it massively reduces the odds of it crossing to humans (still many billions to one against though).
It won't happen, but it could happen.
Just watch out for any rogue turtles.
Well MS and Sony are in different positions.
Sony are outselling MS 2:1, so they couldn't possibly be dropping the price out of desperation.
I don't think MS was acting out of desperation at all, but they are in a position where that was at least plausible.
It isn't hypocrisy if the two companies are in different positions in the market as they are not starting from the same standpoint.
I have an RAF marksmanship course behind me (SLR not Sniper). I also compete at archery and used to be a boxer.
I have a hand forged clay tempered katana, a championship bow and a small collection of high powered air rifles.
I'm confident I could take on the "mushroom heads".
There was a BBC program some years ago about the ants that get infected with the real life fungus that the game is based on.
Fascinating to say the least.
NintendoEverything are clutching at straws here, of course Nintendo will be back in the race when they release the NX, they are currently not in the running as they are broken down in the pit lane.
The DriveClub season pass is probably one of the top 3 ever. You get so much content and it's really cheap.
Seems you are whining over nothing.
@Blade92
Yeah, it tells me that all the kids flocked to the article at the mention of cartoon tits. It makes my point if you ask me.
I was riding my Vespa through some country roads about 20 years ago when I turned a corner and almost knocked somebody off their push bike.
I was amused to see it was Fred Dinenage and as I rode away I had a minor celebrity shaking his fist at me in my rear view mirror (it made me chuckle).
