"Honest question here, what did they do with the year delay?"
Answer: Produced the most beautiful game available on any console. The graphics engine they produced is incredible, there is so much being created in real time it is one of the only titles to really push the boundaries of the system.
@porkChop
The problem with that logic is that despite the poor reviews, the majority of people who have bought it love the game.
It would therefore be better for Sony to release the PS+ edition sooner so that people can judge for themselves.
"Gamers have been (and continue to be) dumb at buying new games... DriveClub, Destiny, Titanfall, and Knack are just a few examples of consumers blindly listening to publishers rather than making an informed decision."
That's more than a little arrogant and condescending don't you think? Plenty of people bought and enjoyed each of the titles you mentioned and who are you to say their purchases were either "dumb" or ill informed?

They tried to pass it off as a game, that didn't work so they tried to pass it off as an architect's design. At least they're trying and after all, somebody needs to find a use for the software.
Gotta love those British Elephants, they must have died out when the Romans left as I live on the south coast of England and haven't seen any around for a while.
I heard Ryse 2 will have some of those legendary African Polar Bears. Great story.
Which is why you need as high a resolution as possible when using a large screen.
1080p is the standard resolution of TVs so it should also be the standard resolution of consoles that are displayed via said TV's, it seems quite obvious to me.
Upscaling is a compromise, it creates distorted pixels and artifacts and the bigger the screen you use, the more you'll notice the difference.
I work in Film/TV, EVERYTHING I submit has to be in ...
Keep telling yourself that, you'll believe it eventually.
"Games are about graphics, gameplay, and story. Resolution should be thought about last."
Resolution is an important part of "graphics" though. Higher Resolution = better graphics (assuming all else is equal).
This article will be very difficult to understand if you're not British with a strong interest in the English Leagues. I'd love to hear what an American with no interest in football makes of it.
"Having the ability to rip all of your retail games to your HDD and access them remotely without disc based verification does the same as MP3's did with music."
The problem with that was they didn't provide the hardware to make it feasible so it was kind of half-arsed.
The message went more like; Rip all your retail games onto a relatively small *irreplaceable* HDD for a few months until its full then.....?
The reviews for this game are all over the place. Its either an absolute masterpiece or a complete waste of time that's hardly worth playing depending on the reviewer.
As someone sitting on the fence, I have no idea which way to jump.
Goldeneye and Perfect Dark were both before Microsoft castrated Rare with a kinect sensor (very messy business).
@Maca80
I think you're the "pudding" around here.
But DC is a whole lot of fun and has been received well by gamers who bought it (8/10 average score after thousands of user ratings despite the problems).
You could equally state; Review scores > Fun for the MS fanboys.
Either way it must be worrying when a PS4 game is slated by reviewers but loved by gamers and an Xbox One game in the same genre receives rave reviews but gets ignored by gamers entirely.
Thanks, so it seems they have trimmed any over-engineering that was placed in the initial design (after a year of consumer testing they no longer need a "belt and braces" approach).
No translation (for me at least), if anyone reads Japanese (I think) I would appreciate a brief summary.
@below, thanks.
" Bandai Namco and From Software changed the way we look at difficult games with the Dark Souls series"
Games used to be so much harder to finish in the 80's (and early/mid 90's), as gaming became mainstream developers began spoon feeding players and making games that could be finished by anyone who could be bothered to play for long enough.
I do miss the days when finishing a game really meant something (a tiny percentage of people would co...
Wouldn't you have done the same thing?
The game is out now and people are enjoying playing it. What IS borderline ridiculous are the masses of people who have not played the game or have any interest in doing so trying to convince those that enjoy the game that they are wrong to do so.
Its a great game, lots of fun, the gameplay is really good and it just so happens to be beautiful also. It launched with serious problems but in time they will be fixed and we will be left with a fantastic driving game. Why do people have su...
