You're both correct and incorrect at the same time
@andy85:
Untrue. DLSS Quality mode 1440p to 4k looks the same - but any more of a resolution cut and with FSR, XESS, or - until it gets better with time - PSSR, you absolutely will get pretty obnoxious artifacts.
We've had PS5 games running at hilariously low resolutions and then upscaled to 4K (Final Fantasy 16 is native 720p upscaled to 1440p and both looks and plays like hot garbage on PS5). Tha...
It's completely remade in UE5 with new environments, all new character models, new story branches, a new orchestral soundtrack, a completely different camera system, etc
Not saying it needed to be remade, but a $10 upgrade is an enormous ask.
Still - why they did such a high budget remake of this instead of a sequel is a mystery to me. A sequel would work better with the movie too - anybody that sees the movie would want to buy the game to see what ha...
"In today’s challenging market and with gamers expecting extraordinary experiences, delivering solid quality is no longer enough" - Yves Guillemot
That's the only source this article has. The rest is filler text and ads. Saved you the click.
Tech4Gamers strikes again as being in the top 3 most useless clickbait garbage N4G websites that clearly uses AI to extend one sentence into entire articles. I have absolutely no idea how they always get approved....
@Einhander1972: My $900 laptop with a 4060M can outperform a PS5 Pro and does so portably.
It drives me absolutely insane that the console manufacturers (other than Nintendo) use AMD.
They're slacking in literally everything besides power consumption in portables and i truly don't know why anybody would buy an AMD GPU for a desktop PC other than to support an underdog story.
Well, a now failed underdog story. With AMD now exiting the high end PC GPU market, maybe the consoles can move to something actually good next gen
A 3080 can totally handle Alan Wake 2 with RT. Just slap DLSS on Quality mode if you're at 1440p or Performance mode if you're at 4K. It'll look way better than native without RT and will run totally fine. Native res is such a silly use of resources that could be put to actual good use lol
Maybe use the Digital Foundry Optimized Settings. I think i remember the 3080 being the card he used for that
PRIMORDUS
People worked hard for years on Horizon, dedicating their lives to the thing. Punishing the developers because of Sony raising the price by a couple bucks after redoing so much of the game is flat out absurd
I don't like Prime energy drinks, so I don't buy them. Doesn't mean I steal every single one I see and give them away, while chugging them every day. That would be lame af
I really cant do this LOUD hyper excited voice over with the tiktok subtitle text rapidly appearing with the over-compressed audio and constant jokes per minute and random silly pngs.
Maybe im just depressed.
If i am, I blame a large portion of it on these vids
God i hate it
The pinned comment is the icing on top:
"UBI is COOKED
THANK YOU TO OUR PATREON SUPPORTERS"
I think when you pay yearly for something as basic as online, a 30% premium toward the console manufacturer on every single game you buy, overpay on all the proprietary accessories, and need to pay for something as basic as cloud saves - game patches from first parties should likely be free
I get it. Guerilla needs to keep the lights on in between these massive projects. It does feel a bit wrong though.
I haven't seen a PC game that's *required* a login from a third party account for a very very long time. Literally no games require that anymore, other than a couple multiplayer Epic games and BattleNet games - which I don't play. And I suppose EA games often ask you to log into UPlay but I just never do. God only knows what my password for that is. Account logins are pretty much always skippable.
It is totally garbage to require an account for a single player g...
Concord Remastered
DF is rarely ever wrong, other than opinions on things people disagree with, little one-off things on the podcast, or attempts to predict the future which they're very clear when they're doing so. Their written material and facts in videos are always correct.
Since they posted on Patreon that AW2 currently runs at 864p internal, and then Remedy came out and said they're prioritizing image quality over resolution, it is proof that DF was right. Which I have no d...
@Dustman: because 4K is a gross misuse of resources when you can render at 1440p and upscale to 4K with DLSS, giving a better-than-native image (due to the inherent antialiasing that comes with DLSS) with less performance cost.
The consoles are also getting up to half a decade old
The $700 is due to the extra raw processing power they had to add to put the USB on a timer /s
Oh noooooooooo my USB Port stays on after I'm done charging my controller which will maybe cost a couple dollars in hydro over the next decade. This is devastating.
Every console launch ever from every manufacturer is always the exact same. Limited quantities are shipped at launch, prompting scalpers to slurp up all the units and sell for $$$$ which suddenly makes it a hot item and makes people more inclined to impulse buy when they do see one in the wild. Also makes the MSRP seem more reasonable.
It even happened (and worked wonders) with the freaking PS Portal lol I'm sure they'll do it again.
Einhander, you can't frame gen 30 to 60. Well you *can* but It looks absolutely atrocious and is pretty much unplayable. No, a 30 to 60 frame gen upscale does not offer better performance than a 30fps lock. It is much, much, much worse and 100% of people would pick the 30fps lock over that. Go look at any footage of a 30 to 60 real time conversion with DLSS3 and tell me that's playable.
PSSR (and DLSS2) hardware machine learning based upscaling can help alleviate pr...
Hogwarts Legacy with RT runs at 30fps on the PS5 Pro. You can literally see it in the announcement video. Games will still have choices, and that is a very good thing.
I sold my PS5 after I got the Ratchet Platinum. Borrowed my friend's for Astro Bot and was intending on buying a Pro but honestly, lack of a disc drive is just so dirty.
If they had to they shoulda just made it $750 and slapped a disc drive in there at this point. We all know the removal isn't a cost cutting measure, but a scheme to get you to only buy games on their store though. Just dirty. Unfortunately sticking with PC. God I miss physical media though
Do you really want a new Unreal Tournament though?
Games like Resistance, Warhawk, Unreal, Halo, Last of Us Factions, Unreal Tournament.... they just don't exist anymore.
If a new Unreal came out, it would have a battle pass, skins, nonsense currency, and would have to be free to play.
One time payment online multiplayer games that don't hold people's attention for infinite hours [service] just aren't enough for publishers anymor...
