You're absolutely correct. Furthermore, some sim racer reviewers on some sites don't even drive real cars. Yet they talk about how real X or Y sim feels real...
When people say BC the understanding is that you can play the games you own for free. A system in which you pay to play the games is not the same thing. No one calls the Wii BC with SNES; you pay for the SNES game. Instead of writing essays defending Sony, admit MS did it right; last gen BC for free. Unless you own stock in Sony don't see how anyone could defend this.
This is damage control from Sony. Not against new features but MS won BC by a mile...
This is actually good for the consumer. You'll know you're getting the best deal for the season instead of waiting for random deals. Remember the GTAV "sale"?
The game is a good arcade racer, comparable to Need for Speed and Horizon. Not Forza, Project CARS, Assetto or GT6. Those are "sim-cades" with real tracks, true physics and run at 60fps. BIG difference.
The thing WILL continue to sell! That being said, this has been an underwhelming console gen. You know it. Evolutionary, not revolutionary. And...remakes...
The trailer looks cool. 2 points though:
1. GT Sport may mean, sports/sporty/GT cars only (no massive lists of cars). Fine by me, but there must be a reason for the name change.
2. Beta next year means, 2017 release...Only one true sim racer on the console (PCARS), potentially 2 with Assetto until 2017...They need to learn from T10 (probably on their 3rd sim by 2017).
Why is anyone talking about XB1 sales in Japan?
1. There is no console war. PS4 won.
2. Sony did the same thing when 360 started beating them (NPD).
3. Take a second and think about what they're saying. It actually makes sense. People logging on = consumption. For TV, no one cares about which cable device you use; they care about ratings.
4. Point 1 does not invalidate point 3 and viceversa.
No. It's a bussiness. Make them until there's no demand.
Haha, I'll give you Uncharted, but everything else is OK at best. Motorstorm? HS?? Infamous??? MAG???? Meh overhyped titles...
PS2 was on a league of it's own and sent SEGA to retirement. PS1 re-shaped the industry. PS3 was mostly hype followed by disappointment. KZ got people fired. Yes, some great 1st party, but nothing industry shattering. Wii won and, frankly, I give the edge to 360 over PS3.
It changed the industry. Dethroned Nintendo and basically started the destruction of SEGA. It gave us Gran Turismo, Tekken, Final F...basically, it led the transition from 2D sprites to polys.
PS2>PS1>PS3>PS4
Sony is simply using the "me too" strategy like most companies do. VR on consoles will be forgotten one year from release like most expensive peripherals. But companies want to have something available for the remote chance it actually catches on. It will work on PC since there's a small market of people with the hardware and $$$ to run decent VR. By the way, look for the Sega Genesis VR infomercial!
Don't remember the last time I played split screen. Looks terrible.
VR won't last much on consoles. The installed base won't be enough for developers to spend the time/resources focusing on this. 3D was cheaper (for developers) and where is it now? At best, Oculus sells well on PC for sim racers.
The only reason DC is part of any conversation is that GT7 is nowhere to be seen. There's a huge difference between 30fps and 60fps. Sure, static photos and videos may give the edge to DC, but don't kid yourselves; it doesn't look better when you're playing. Played the DC demo once and never bothered again.
Their biggest problem is how long it takes them to develop these, specially when other companies release sims just as good (or better) every 2 years.
PS is iconic, yes, but not as Nintendo. We wouldn't be playing games without Nintendo.
Yes. Not just the price; the PC specs. Even very capable setups don't meet the requirements. It's like the Genesis 32X CD; console+ 32X+Sega CD. $+$+$. The more requirements, the smaller the marquet. To that, add the fact that it's an anti-social experience. Was looking forward to it (ready to spend the $) and I don't meet the USB requirements. Now think of how many would actually spend $ for a PC peripheral. Yes, I'm one; but how many compared to the rest of the market? V...
