1. MS makes $$$ on the games, not the hardware. 2. Most will still buy the hardware. 3. Now PC gamers can help them make more money on the games. Brilliant.
And that matters because???
It matters. XBOX's thing is performance. When they forgot about it Sony destroyed them (this gen).
I think it's awesome that both MS and Sony are doing this. Just don't expect 4K gaming.
Who writes these articles? It's all about $$$.
They're focusing on e-sport; you don't need dynamic weather. Weather is a feature people talk about when they have nothing else to talk about. Yes, it's neat, but not at the expense of steady frame rate.
First world problems...
The problem with game reviews these days are you guys, expecting 9+ for all AAA games just because you think they deserve 9+. I'm hoping the 8.8 score sticks because 8.8 means it's a GREAT game. Hype and "big name" should not matter on scores.
I found it interesting that Sony would "leak" the specs of Neo ahead of E3 instead of surprising everyone. They must know MS has something up their sleeves performance wise. No way AMD can keep these specs a secret from each other since they're similar platforms. MS will focus on powerful hardware and Windows, Sony will focus on dominating VR.
Xbox's thing is performance and Live. XB1 lacks in performance, so yes, upgrade is inevitable.
Last gen SONY said they were graphically better than pretty much anything in the universe at E3. Initial reviews called 360 an Xbox 1.5. You forgot? No Gamepro issues laying around? In reality, 95% of Xbox games looked and played better on 360 and live. MS pretty much beat SONY on every aspect. Hence, the last gen console wars. Yes, SONY did pull an SNES (some will get it). This gen, no question, PS4 simply better. Better GPU developed by the same company. It also sells better (by a lot) and...
This concept is not new; PC has been doing this for over a decade. The game will scale according to your hardware. PS4 gets 30FPS at 1080P, PS4K does 60FPS. For the PS4K you'll download the higher res textures. Like on PC, you don't have to buy the latest hardware to play the games.
That would be a game changer. Sony would own VR!
PC VR vs PS4 will be two completely different experiences. People have already played Project CARS on Oculus (DK2). PS4 doesn't have the horse power to play realistic looking graphics at 60fps on a single screen, let alone two screens. Don't get me wrong, I'll be getting the PSVR. But I'm not expecting Uncharted or GT. It will work with cartoony or simplified graphics.
VR, as we imagine it, will never be mainstream. Remember, regardless of the generation, you'll need 2x the graphics power at 90 FPS. That means current gen top tier graphics would need top tier next gen graphics cards to look and play smoothly. Can't believe the industry hasn't addressed this issue. Simply put, CoD 2016 would need 2x the power to play in VR. VR will always need more and consoles don't advance that quickly...
Scenario 1: You time it right. At the end of a consoles lifespan you release on PC. Then, if you invest on specs, you release a better version (or sequel) on your next gen system. The current problem is that, unlike the 360/PS3 era, consoles will remain way behind PC.
Scenario 2: You know that PC, although more powerful, is a smaller market. Still, you can make $$$ and get an additional return on your investment.
Someone hire me as a consultant!
On PC, VR will be as popular as triple screen monitors; some own it but most never will. Even if the headset was $300, you need the specs to run it (at 90fps dual screen). It will always be expensive unless you play with very low settings and/or less demanding games. Developers won't spend $$$ on this. They didn't for 3D...
N4G is the only place people still talk about this great looking disappointing game...This is nowhere close to being the best racer this gen. The best racer of this generation so far is Forza 6. I've played all of them.
I've had more fun on XB1 so far, but no, there's no catching Sony. Morpheus will widen the gap.
Yep. One of the best/most replayable games ever.
