I think a certain number of countries (FTC) equivalents have to approve the deal. I think it's like 16 of them. However, lawsuits like the one the FTC launched can kill the bid I believe no matter how many countries pass it. The more approvals the deal gets I would say makes the lawsuit weaker.

Clearly, Xbox Live Gold will eventually be gone. If MS doesn't have to invest in those crappy Xbox Live Gold games every month it will increase its budget to get games into Game Pass and that is the end goal for Microsoft.
Do you look at it for like hours on end? I mean it has like 4 tracked items on it. If you really super miss it I believe trueachievements can pretty much spit out the same data for you in pretty much the same format.
It's a pretty good game. I did max achievements including the expansion... I wouldn't call it "changing the Game Industry". It is extremely repetitive and I can see why some people don't like it.

The precursor to hiking GamePass prices would be if the $70 Billion dollar Activision/Blizzard/King acquisition goes through. If it does I'd be pretty certain there will be some sort of price hike to all GamePass tiers. Maybe one of the reasons they are looking at this new delayed 1p party game access with advertisements.

If all you have to do is buy a TV to play Xbox Games... That isn't a bad deal and locks Xbox games to basically no consoles. Especially If... and when they expand to other TV manufacturers... They also want these deals to expand the content and exclusive content on GamePass. Starting a new studio from the ground up doesn't make sense with growing GamePass exclusive content. They also then control well-established IPs. Way...Way more upside for them buying studios with content they can immediately shift to GamePass... Then building a studio and waiting 6 years for their first AAA game offering.

The real question is Sony could compete… if God for bid they fell to #2 and I think we all know the answer is yes. Their first party’s are strong enough to compete. They also now own Bungie who could develop an exclusive new FPS IP for them within the 10-year time frame COD would be guaranteed to be on the PlayStation platform. Not to mention if they treated COD like Minecraft which has been mentioned it would never leave the platform anyway.
It's "Forced" because it isn't Historically accurate. If you are trying to make something historically accurate and you intentionally deviate to make changes that are not historically accurate it can create confusion over that time period, culture, and the population that lived in the world region you are creating. It makes it less authentic.

Maybe another good entry will be developed by an outsourced development studio or in-house 1p studio. 343i has no one to blame but themselves and Bonnie Ross. 343i had a huge budget and tons of time for Halo Infinite, and they failed yet again. That set the foundation for Bonnie Ross to finally be fired "I mean... quit because of family issues"... and probably aided Microsoft's decision to shrink the studio down to appropriate size with the garbage they were producing.
