I don’t think it’s in trouble at all.. the initiative is a very small studio employee wise right now… especially with the scope of a AAA title… Gallagher the head of the studio worked there with Tomb Raider reboot making them a perfect fit to help with Perfect Dark reboot.
Fairly lame excuse... seeing as how there is already rampant cheating in online-only games. It is a single-player campaign it shouldn't need online-only to prevent cheating... That already doesn't work in online-only games.
It's not like this is an online pay-to-win scheme. It is a single-player experience. Some players have more time on their hands than others. If you don't like them don't buy them. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be offered to players that don't have as much time on their hands as other players.
For all those cheering government intervening and trying to shutdown loot boxes instead of using responsible parenting... Remember the next step could be this. Government usually starts with good intentions... before it reaches for more control. Ultimately what all governments want is total control of their subjects.
One reason I would rather keep politicians of all forms out of the gaming sector as a whole.
I thought the Xbox (was a good name)... Xbox 360 (a decent name)... Xbox One a terrible name... and Xbox Series X|S is also a pretty bad name. MS doesn't in my opinion have a good track record of naming their consoles other than the original Xbox name. Sony I think has the best track record at naming their systems just kept the brand Sony PlayStation and didn't try a bunch of weird naming changes.
I thought Nintendo messed up big time with the Wii and then the f...
I didn't pay them to end loot boxes which is optional to purchase last time I checked. Don't like them? Don't buy them. Parent your kids and they can't buy them without your consent. I don't see a problem to fix. Wasting time and tax payer money... what big bloated government does best.
I have kids... I have kids that play games with loot boxes. Sometimes I let them purchase them. I also have password protection for payments. Maybe people should try parenting their kids and set up safeguards? But, it's always easier to blame someone else for your own failures.
I believe you will be sadly mistaken...

Because it's a third-party game and it's an opinion article from windowscentral.com obviously a Microsoft/Xbox-related website.
It would be like a Nintendo or Sony article pushing the Xbox version of a game... Remember you write articles that are geared toward the audience that will most likely be reading the article. If the title of this article... that's an OPINION piece from an Xbox-related gaming website triggers you... You might be a Snowflake.

Many times the exposure of Gamepass has proven to increase sales because the games are sold at a discount while on the service and sales are also moved by word of mouth through friends who play it on Gamepass.
"If I take the month before we went into Game Pass, and compared it to sales of the game last week, we're now selling around five times as many units each week as pre-Game Pass, on a weekly basis," he said.
"Since we went into Game Pass, ou...

"Did they not say it's not sustainable? That means it doesn't make profit."
Phil Spencer actually said the opposite.
“There’s no plan for us to do anything like that; we like the value that Game Pass is today, and from a business model it’s completely sustainable the way it is,” Spencer added."

Please disclose all the financial records that you have. You are making strong allegations for a program where virtually no financial records have been disclosed not to mention Xbox games and services have generally been an increase in revenue during their quarterly financial releases.
Sure it is probably bleeding some money I would imagine. I have no factual records saying it is bleeding money right now but the service is growing and probably has around 25+ million subsc...
Microsoft would say no. They want the Xbox Series X to be the best version... Not on par with its competitor.
Microsoft owns Double Fine as well as the rights to this game now as well. MS isn't playing nice with the acquisitions they have been recently making. (They are going to follow through with prior contractual agreements... But that is all) once the agreements are dried up all future games will be exclusive to the Xbox Ecosystem.
There is Zero...
Not saying it will not happen but this investment would make it much more difficult.

The main reason I don't see them going 1p to any camp... They took this funding to help them stay independent.
Team Xbox once again shows that they are trying to push the crap out of Xbox GamePass at the expense of Games with Gold... But, honestly it's crystal clear and this should not be a surprise for anyone.
Conker was a blast though I remember going through and beating it on the OG Xbox.
Quality pickups great studios.
Sea of Thieves with no AI crewmate options or single player campaign option isn't for me but it is a cool crossover. I also like that it was announced as free DLC... Sea of Thieves has done an amazing job with massive free content updates over the lifespan of the game. I am glad it turned into a success and found a rather large audience even if it doesn't include me.
Microsoft doesn’t care about the value of Gold because they are trying to push everyone to GamePass. They are fine with pushing old... or lower tiered games.
According that both are all sold out I would assume yes... but I also believe that Sony will out sell Xbox this generation as well.
What spin? The Initiative is a very small studio at this point but has hired employees that are well known across the industry. They don't hire anyone who knows how to program, the bar has been set high to work there if you've been tracking who they hire. As of now for the Initiative to make a AAA game themselves it would probably take far too long to get completed in a timely manner. This help doesn't mean they don't know what they are doing, but to help the timeline of ...
