I wonder how many actual launch Xbox 360's are still up and running and what the failure over time is for them.

I had something like that on my PS3 with an hdmi cable. And it was only after I added my receiver and went through it, the cable in question worked fine straight to the PS3. Replaced it and the problem was gone.
I recently bought all new hdmi cables that were cheap but highly recommended on amazon and had good results with them.
My old ones were acting strange on my new TV with ARC to the reciever. It was super slow when using the remote and would cut out....
If Windows 8 is any indication Microsoft should have startup time seriously handled on the Xbox. I have a uEFI boot setup with an ssd and they really did a good job with boot and shutdown times on Windows 8.
I do hope Sony get's the suspend feature done very soon for the PS4, because I'm really looking forward to it.
I discredit any review of a router where the setup wizard is praised, and or the reviewer needed to use it.
As well as no tests of actual routing performance, maximum simultaneous connections, throughput etc. Actually I pretty much wouldn't read a router review from any site but smallnetbuilder.
There will be thousands of defective PS4's and thousands of defective Xbox One's, but hopefully neither will have an RROD level defect on their hands.

They have always been extremely heavy handed with Xbox Live. Only very recently, and because their hand was tipped by Sony, did they even decide to open up a bit and be friendlier to Indies.
The cost of patching your game on Xbox Live for example is famously ridiculous.

Either they will have to compete with the netflix model or just die and go under. Governments (Canada for example) are even trying to take steps to force them to change their bundling practices that force 100 dollar a month bills on customers for channels they don't want.
It's based on BSD, which is where I would guess the slow boot time comes from. BSD is agonizingly slow to boot. I'm sure it will get better in future updates, and the suspend feature will be very welcome.
Should have used some kind of linux with systemd as a base OS. My linux desktop boots and shuts down so fast it might even be faster than Windows 8.
All I hear about this console is how awesome the UI is going to be and the million ways I can quickly stop playing my game and do something else. Like look at the awesome UI, or watch TV, or earn achievements for fellating myself on a Skype call.

Uh yeah that's why I watch them on my xbmc media center after downloading them. Or why many watch them on netflix.
My TV plays netflix by itself, I don't even need to start my PS3 for that. So many devices play netflix out there it's staggering.

Yeah his comments on the resolution issue don't sit well with me. But it sounds like Sony really went out of their way to treat the press very well at the New York event. He can have a chance to redeem himself for the resolutiongate video if he's going to do some fair unbiased reporting on the PS3 event this week.
I just read in another post Sessler got an engraved media unit like everyone else. So it looks like Sony proved that wrong and went the extra mile for all the press involved.
I think I kind of feel relieved that Adam got invited and got a review unit. I was honestly starting to feel bad for him, even though I've poked fun at his misadventures this week myself.
