I don't mind games that lack violence, my issue with walking simulators is the lack of interactivity which destroys the whole purpose of gaming. Perfect example of this is Gone Home for the fact that it lack interactivity. Sure the gamer walks around and picks stuff up and the story is great. Not worth reading, the switch is the successor to the 3DS end of discussion. Instead of focusing on a useless next gen handheld why not demand for Nintendo to bring backwards compatibility to the Switch much more efficient. Handhelds are dead and soon console hardware will be dead too.
Besides GOG, I really don't see any good alternatives for PC gaming. Unless, we could go back to the old days were gamers buy a digital game and store it on their game folder.
I am aware that Valve has an awful customer service, Early Access still needs fixing really bad, their redund program sucks, bring back flash sales damn it. I still store my games on Steam and once in a while I do buy games from Steam.There is no such thing as a perfect corporation but Valve is not as greedy or as bad as other corporations. Agreed, but even if I buy my PC games from G2A (no hate please), humble bundle, greenmangaming, rarely on Amazon (PC gaming library very limited). I still store those games on my steam library.
There is GOG, greenmangaming, and game developers themselves can sell their games through their own website. For example Blizzard sells all of its PC games through battlenet (their own store). No monopoly from Valve. You can say there is an oligarchy on PC gaming in the sense that Valve, Origin, and Blizzard control the PC gaming market.
Why not force Nintendo to keep it free. Seriously other than making Nintendo rich is there a logical reason to pay to play online. PC gamers get all the online features including playing online for freeee. PC gamers have shown time and again that gamers can stand up to corporations fight back and get a free fair gaming experience.
