Oh god, I've been waiting for this moment since I first saw Lawnmower Man as a kid. The fact a real VR headset is coming to home consoles means it's going to go mainstream even quicker than I would have dared hope when I first heard about Oculus. Kudos to Sony for having the vision to recognize this is the future and having the courage to move forward with this so early instead of waiting until it's proven.

On a side note, I'd be ridiculously surprised if Oc...

This reminds me of the first two Wipeout games on PSX, more so than the other sequels. They are truly lame for not showing this off

Just to avoid the accusations, the only 'next-gen' console I own is a Wii-U. I bought it last year because neither PS4 nor XBox One had (nor has now really) any games I'm interested in, and I knew I'd have fun with what was available on Wii-U. I think super-mario kart players have probably had more fun this gen than ps4 and xbox one's audiences combined across all games. That being said it was only a matter of time before the good games started coming out on the real ne...

Yes, there's also OSVR ( http://www.osvr.com/). I think/hope they all realize that once they get their respective products out there with their initial offerings for api's, motion control, etc, that the only way forward is a common api. Not just for VR graphically, but for head, body, and hand tracking, and eventually gaze tracking. Every random company that has a crazy awesome idea about motion control can't just keep m...

I think Microsoft can find a way to profit from not treating PC gaming like some unwanted nuisance. And they won't need to hold back software from PC to do it. MS has finally been making all the right moves lately since Ballmer and Mattrick left.

I still plan to get a PS4 when some must-have games finally drop, because aside from it being more powerful, Sony has all of the god-like third party developers I care about. That being said, for the first time I'm also i...

stupid article because it has zero substance.

All he says is basically 'This game won't look like the trailer because I said so', only supported by a little bit of whining about how he's been disappointed by trailers in the past.

I hope it works well and does well. The sooner VR is ubiquitous, the better. It will have to catch on with developers in a way that the Move and Eye never did, but if it can achieve true presence with decent graphics, then demo units at the stores will probably help turn the non-believers.

stupid article.

also, it looks cool as hell, but doesn't look anywhere near close to impossible. That looks like it could easily run on a high end pc.

Article writer clearly wants hits:
"their partners do not have to add the option to turn Secure Boot off. This leaves it up to the computer manufacturers to decide if they even want to offer it."

glosses right over this and the whole tone and title of the article aside from a few sentences makes it sound like it's mandatory to be locked out of dual OS's.

Any SteamBox hardware manufacturer that knows the tiniest bit about their audie...

Could definitely be true, but there's 2 replies there from himself, I wouldn't be surprised if the second one was something he didn't want included in the image seeing as it's cut off.

I wonder if they see the irony of having put 'reality check' in the title.

@payikick
PC's usually don't have framerate caps on their games. A powerful enough PC could run DriveClub(if it were a PC game) or Project Cars at 60fps easily, even with the Oculus.

I doubt PS4 will be able to handle Project Cars on Morpheus at 30fps, let alone 60fps, and it obviously can't run DriveClub on Morpheus at all, since it's pushing the console as is.

I looked at reflections and shadows, and DriveClub just looks more realist...

DriveClub looks miles better. It'd be amazing to see a PC optimized version of DriveClub with Oculus Rift support. Alas, that will never happen.

"HoloLens looks like the most interesting and promising"

translation: "I own an XBox One"

HoloLens looks cool as hell, and I will get one for Windows, but I will certainly get an Oculus first.

Good job on letting the article writer think for you.

This is super exciting stuff, but in no way is this a victory over VR glasses, seeing as how they serve two very different purposes and provide two very different experiences.

I know XBox One takes a beating regularly in every category, so it's tempting to try to find opportunities to 'strike back', but this is it's own thing that doesn't 'beat' oculus or morpheus any more than ...

Yes, this is clearly written by a fanboy and a half.

AR and VR are very far apart, and both are extremely exciting in very different ways.

Also, this particular fanboy didn't do his research since the cameras being worked into Oculus will clearly open the doors for AR applications.

The main thing that makes some of us morons believe it doesn't apply to the X1 is quotes like:

“On the DX12 question, I was asked early on by people if DX12 is gonna dramatically change the graphics capabilities of Xbox One and I said it wouldn’t. I’m not trying to rain on anybody’s parade, but the CPU, GPU and memory that are on Xbox One don’t change when you go to DX12. DX12 makes it easier to do some of the things that Xbox One’s good at, which will be nice and you’ll ...

Getting downvotes from XBox One fanboys no doubt.

Congrats on keeping your sanity and reading comprehension when 99% of XBox One fans refuse to allow the truth to ever get in the way of their directionless hype. Intelligence bubble for you, and an agree.

On a happier note, it looks like that badass AR stuff might be coming to XBox One. This is shaping up to be the most awesome generation for all three consoles.

Pretty damn awesome. Glad MS has joined in the fun of doing exciting things. Minecraft will be amazing in VR and AR
