Really reaching there, huh?
Lemme try: PS4 has the only 1080p console exclusive featuring a cephalopod main character.
See how silly it is to try to come up with an arbitrary set of constraints, when we're talking about the power of a specific console?
I plan to buy both consoles, btw, but I will do so fully aware that the PS4 will be the more powerful of the two.
Myth? It's not a myth. The 900p thing (or other downgrades) has happened with a lot of games. Peoples' perception is based off of seeing it over and over. Trying to fudge with the numbers will do nothing to change that, especially when we'll probably see it come up again in the next few months with some other multiplat
If they were 'literally' leaving money on the table, that would mean that we were talking about an actual physical table, and gamers were leaving actual dollar bills and coins on it.
As evident by their console hardware and their incessant YouTube takedowns, Nintendo is in a backward-thinking crisis as of late. They can't seem to adjust to the modern connected world. Best of luck to them, and to this guy.
Yeah, MMOs are so pathetically derivative I stopped paying all attention, and only raise an ear every few years when it seems like someone is going to try something new but doesn't.
I think there's potential to make a massive persistent world, but if you combine it with procedural content, you could have something truly mind-blowing. Like an MMO that uses Spore level procedurally generated environments (not necessarily meaning the multiplanetary scale of Spore, but j...
I was originally planning only to get PS4. Now I want both PS4 and XBox One. It wasn't the games that changed my mind, it was MS as a company that did. The new leadership (both Nadella and Spencer) makes me actually excited about where they're going to take Windows 10 and XBox One. I'm so glad the Ballmer/Mattrick dark ages are over.
I mean, can you imagine what they can do if they continue to run their company correctly? They have more money than god, and t...
The fanboys on both sides are alarmingly ignorant nowadays. Do the Sony fanboys who compare Crackdown to Red Faction or Battlefield really not realize how much more intensive what Crackdown is doing is? It's clearly happening with a level of fidelity and scale that far surpasses anything demoed in realtime before. Also, although I heard once around launch that Sony was trying to work on some cloud compute platform using Linux servers, I think that article may have been mixed up about G...
Thank goodness MS stopped sucking so bad, not just XBox division, but Ballmer was the crappiest embarrassment of a CEO they could have ever had. The world is much better off when companies as powerful as MS aren't evil and stupid.
I hope part of embracing Windows as a gaming platform includes their first party studios taking advantage of the PC's power.
I honestly also hope part of the 'some people might throw egg' stuff would be the opti...
Things are really heating up now. Hopefully there will be more games that use the cloud to do things the PS4 can't (unless Sony is planning something cloud compute related), and PS4 is getting Morpheus soon, which will enable it to do something XBox One can't (unless there's more to the Oculus/MS deal than they've let on so far). So now, there's finally something that differentiates the consoles aside from the PS4 being more powerful, and the XBox One's Kinect UI fea...
@moldybread, the didn't literally leave. I was responding to 'where are the trolls'. Obviously the ones who were truly trolling are either still leaving salty comments about how they're supposedly not impressed, or are just staying quiet.
Then there were 'trolls' who rightly called out MS and the fanboys who claimed that this, like dropping the Kinect, and the DX update, and another update before that, and the secret GPU, and whatever other nonsense t...
I wonder how much bandwidth this needs to work on the player's end, compared to a say a 64 player match of Battlefield or something, or compared to streaming an HD movie. I guess it must be optimized to only send all the fragment locations just to the players that will have it in their field of view, but if it keeps track of even little tiny rock fragments and such it must be a crazy amount of data. I wonder what other uses they will find for cloud computation. Off the top of my head I...
They all left after Microsoft stopped pretending the cloud would make the Xbox One more powerful than the PS4
Pocket-Lint Crackdown 3 preview: The Xbox One game that is beyond the Xbox One's capabilities
I just had a thought. If you can destroy any wall, does that mean every building has a fully fleshed out and furnished interior , or empty rooms and hallways, or are the buildings hollow on the inside?
Well, I was busy getting downvoted a while back when I said the initial Crackdown tech demo was super-impressive a long while back when the destruction was shown off in an all grey textureless environment, but that's not what anyone meant when they mentioned secret sauce (at least the people who actually knew what they were talking about instead of just mindlessly repeating everyone else).
The secret sauce talk was poking fun at people saying (and they still do every coup...
It's more because low-level APIs had a reputation for being hardware specific, so programming at a low level required writing code for every GPU you wanted to support. Only recently have they found new ways of allowing developers low-level access without tying them to one card or platform.
Though I think you may mean low-overhead, which is what the article mentions, I think BWD was referring to APIs with low-level access, which Vulkan is as well.
Yeah. There's a lot of fanboys who don't have the slightest idea how technology works, and would jump on an article about a 2D Worms game with it's completely destructible environment and say 'Take that Crackdown!!'. The same one's who'd see solitaire running at 1080p 60fps on XBox One and scream from the heavens how this proves XBox One is on par with PS4 powerwise.
Much like DriveClub is impressive graphical tech whether the game is great or no...
Interesting people with imaginations do, sure
Capcom has completely lost their way across the board (as a company, not just RE) . I wouldn't have faith in them to reboot it well. They've been saying they were 'taking it back to its roots' for pretty much every game since just after RE4. I'm sure their reboot would be another failed iteration of 'going back to its roots'
