Some day when I'm bored, I'm going to compile a list of every time Capcom has said Resident Evil was returning to it's roots. It's seriously almost every single sequel since RE4. Capcom doesn't even understand the soul of it's own franchise, and I have zero faith in them to make it awesome again.

If I didn't already have an Oculus and couldn't afford it, 100% yes I would buy a PS4 and the PSVR headset.

PSVR can play an important role in popularizing VR more quickly while the other two remain priced outside most people's affordability range, but it will not dictate the future of VR. The other two can more than stand on their own merits, and as the price goes down, more and more people will be buying VR capable PC's and headsets.

These first ones would probably be bad for their eyes if used too many hours a day, or bad for their necks if worn by too young of a kid for too many hours a day.

In 10 years they will have VR helmets for toddlers, and it will be normal for families to play together in virtual playrooms, visit virtual museums, and kids to learn in virtual classrooms.

Kids born in 20 years will grow up with virtual reality being ubiquitous, and not regularly being in virtual ...

"So why aren't you comprehending?"

You're right a missed a whole sentence of your post:

"The graphical fidelity on these things are lacking as well as unresponsive or lagging controls"

The graphical fidelity on what things? PC's that can be upgraded indefinitely? PC games have the best graphics, obviously, and a powerful PC can push those same graphics into VR, so that makes no sense.

Unrespo...

That wasn't my main point. My point is there are people who are excited and eager to try VR, and those people who want to be at the bleeding edge will have a solid experience from any of the big three headsets, and plenty of games are coming to all three. Not to mention how many non-exclusively VR games are getting the VR treatment either retro-actively through patching or moving forward (on pc at least).

I don't think it needs saying that obviously none of the head...

I've had a dk2 for a couple of months now, and it's amazing. The consumer version has a higher FOV, increased resolution and decreased screendoor, better tracking, and more comfortable and that would make the experience that much more awesome. I think most of the naysayers haven't tried it (and possibly think that Google Cardboard or GearVR is the same thing).

It's completely undeniably obvious once you try a good demo or game in vr that we are on the cusp ...

No idea what you're talking about. All the games are on rails? Lucky's Tale? Eve Valkyrie? Project Cars, ToyBox Turbos, Allison Road, Minecraft...The list is far far longer, but I'm not sure where you're finding all these rail style games.

Not sure what games or demos you tried, but I disagree completely. The graphics a modern gaming PC can push through VR is several generations graphically above the GearVR. Secondly, the GearVR doesn't have positional tracking, which makes for a whole different level of presence. In a GearVR game, if you try to look over an edge, or lean to the left, the view just comes with you, which is not only motion sickness inducing, but also doesn't feel real. In Oculus, being able to lean o...

This is one case where I'm not too annoyed about the developer removing the 'overly sexual' animation. I disagree it's overly sexual. It looks like she's just being cocky and happens to have a nice butt. However, since there are other characters in the game that are more overtly sexual that they will not be changing or censoring, it's actually believable they agreed with the poster that the pose didn't fit her personality, and that's a good reason to change ...

Got an Oculus DK2 off of ebay a month and a half ago and you're right. The framerate and head tracking matters more than anything else for feeling like you're there. Being able to stick your head all the way out your car window and look at the side of your car or the street isn't really going to be used while you're playing much, but when you it works it's incredible, and when it doesn't it's either disappointing and fake feeling, or motion sickness inducing.

@Otaku DJK1NG-Rory, it's defined by both, and more so by when there's a consensus to build new consoles. If every new console that came out later in time marked the start of a new gen, then we'd be at the 11th or 12th gen, thanks to sega, instead of the 8th.

If it was purely based on evenly spaced time increments, then ps3,360,and wii would have taken up 2 generations.

Also, clearly me calling Wii-U last gen was a jab at Wii-U's weak hardware...

@ninsigma
"If everyone was waiting for psvr instead then the sales would have dropped drastically"
in general people aren't 'waiting for vr'. It's after people try it for the first time that they realize how awesome it is.

"Take into consideration Nintendo, for the last couple of gens, have gone for cheaper (hence weaker) hardware in comparison to its competition"
"recent trends don't support reasoning that...

If they go with x86 architecture (which it seems very likely from comments from AMD that it will have similar architecture to the other 2), getting third party support even for the whole backlog they're behind on, should be very easy to do.

I don't think they need VR, but I do hope they're at least making room for it to be capable of it.

What it does need is to be at least close to on par with online features (but remain free), and more importantly it needs to best them handily with graphics. I think just matching them graphically this late in the game would be a tough sell, but since both xb1 and ps4 have trouble keeping up framerates with most of the high end looking games that also come to pc, even...

"Nope. X1 doesn't really support VR"
PSVR isn't released. Who's to say that it doesn't end up widening the gap of sales between the two consoles? This is a non-point.

"the console space will still be more popular than the vr stuff for now"
You mean right now that there's no consumer VR device released for anything except for Samsung phones? Well you said will be, so you mean in the future that you've foreseen?

Not sure if you're saying that jokingly or not. But as far as what games look like, they are finally coming into this gen. Wii-U performs barely better than a previous gen console. If they're starting gen 9 rather than hopping on this gen late, they're in trouble. Historically consoles released in between gens by arriving super early end up doing horribly (see most of Sega's consoles)

I like AMD as a company, and I like their business policies more than I like NVidia's as they are much more open with their researched tech. This would pay off for gamers, for instance, if PhysX also ran hardware accelerated on AMD cards, then we would see PhysX used for gameplay like grabbing on cloth that could rip, or realistic liquid physics for floods, or pourable liquids. As it is, PhysX is always just a decoration (with a few tiny indie game exceptions). This type of closed polic...

I think it should be exclusive to the NX, and have far better graphics than what the Wii-U could provide. It could be a system seller, which they will need coming into the gen this late in the game - and I'll root strongly for Nintendo if the NX ends up being a real console that can kill the PS4 graphically. Since this gen PS4 gave into the charge for online pay greed, I really want Nintendo to clean house.

Between Nintendo's ridiculously fun exclusives, and getting...

The only current gen console I own is WiiU, and I'd much rather it be exclusive to NX. I'd rather it take full advantage of NX instead of being gimped to also run on, or even share code with the Wii U version. This is of course assuming Nintendo does things right this time and makes a real console with a respectable amount of power and x86 architecture.
