Not everyone is able to buy and play the game. I used to watch whole game playthroughs during the majority of the PS3 life cycle cause I'm a student and I was broke, like hella broke. Saving up for a console and buying games for 60$ wasn't a reality for me but I didn't want to completely miss out on games with amazing stories. So watching someone else play them was the only option. Not everyone has the money for it.

Depends on how much time he has on his hands. If you can't invest several tens of hours into the game I suggest either X for its great story, music and linearity, or VIII because it doesn't make you have to do grinding.
If you do have time I suggest VII for its great universe, starting with Crisis Core, then the main game, then Dirge of Cerberus.

Why would allowing character switching Downgrade Noctis? All the characters already have animations for attacks, abilities, magic and such. Making them controllable doesn't seem like a big issue to me. Noct could keep all his abilities, only you could switch to the other ones for some diversity. For example, instead of hoping for the AI to make Prompto use his stun shot when you need it, you could just switch to him and use it yourself.

Also this is just the demo. It won't necessarily be like this in the final game. Getting exp in the demo and leveling up goes rather fast as well. They probably tweaked it so people can enjoy it more.

I agree on that but there are usually no-commentary playthroughs as well. Though funnily enough, those playthroughs I watched only made me want to play the game even more, cause I remember getting really frustrated with the way others played the game, missing some key elements and etc. You'd be surprised how much someone who makes a living of playing games can suck at games.
